MINUTES
Meeting - August 27, 1979

The meeting was called to order by the Chairman Joseph Houghton at 7:42 PM.
Members Present: Joseph Houghton, David Clemmey, Caleen Cheney, Jeffrey Ptaschnik,
Roger Dotson.
The minutes of the July 30, 1979 & August 8, 1979 meetings were passed around
to each member, motion made to accept minutes as written - so voted.
The letter from Lyman C. Avery, Chairman, Board of Selebtmen, to Jeffrey
Ptaschnik dated August 17, 1979 informed Mr. Ptaschnik of his appointment to the
Finance Committee was passed around - no discussion or action taken.
Memorandum from the Town Manager to Chairmen of the various boards dated
August 20, 1979 with the subject; Recreational Facility was also passed around - no
dicussion or action taken.
Discussion of Schedule "B" - "Total Appropriations to be raised - Certification
of Appropriation". At this time the committee had a full discussion on each column
of this report and each item listed. It was noted that this was only a working of
Schedule "B" and that as of this date, the committee had not reviewed the completed
documents to be submitted to the State. There was also a discussion on the
estimated receipts per the cherry sheet. Mr. Houghton passed around a work sheet of
his own listing the expenditures. There was a full discussion on Mr. Houghtons
work sheet.
No action could be taken on any of the discussion, since the committee was only
reviewing work sheets and not the final tax rate recap report to be submitted to the
state for certification.
A motion was made by J. Jeffrey Ptaschnik that the Chairman send a letter to
the Borad of Assessors with a copy to the Board of Selectment advising them of the
following documents we have reviewed as of this date are work sheets only and not
final drafts Also we have not received all of the pages of the tax rate
recapitulation form. The boards should be advised that -we will not be responsible
for the Tax Recapitulation Report review unless we have an opportunity to review
the completed final forms to be submitted to the State for certification.
Motion seconded by Caleen Cheney, unamious voice voted.
The new "Handbook for Town Committees & Boards" was passed around to all
members. The handbook was then given to the Committee Secretary to be placed in the
permanent records.
There was a discussion regarding the night for the regular monthly meetings.
At this time, the Chairman has set the Fourth Monday of each month as the regular
meeting night.
At this time there was a discussion on filling a potential vacancy on the finance
committee. Mr. Houghton had been advised by Ed Benson that Mr. Benson would be submitting
his resignation shortly. At this time there was a discussion or pQ3�eeible canidates.

A motion was made by Caleen Cheney to nominate Lawrence Pigeon to fill the
vacancy. Motion seconded by David Clemmey.
So voted - Unamious.
Motion made to adjourn by Jeffrey Ptaschnik seconded by Roger Dotson.
