Finance Committee Meeting

and 10 other public participants.
TQ_SSURt- The meeting was called to resolve a large and unexpected
expenditure of the town consultants account; Three separate
issues were discussed; 1) What caused the recent expenditures?
2).What would be the future policy concerns relative to the
cost increase'? 3) What is the total liability that can be
expected?
ANSWERS: 1) The primary cause is the historical "Nioom° of
building projects thit the town.was expected to inspect.
Currently we have 81 projects underway. 2) The discussion
indicated that the towns cost would be greatly reduced by
developing a policy for an inspection acceptable to the
planning board but more directly certified by the developers
own engineers and "approved" inspectors. One strong recom-
mendation was for the town Engineer to develop a type of
"builders guide line" or "paper trail" of required inspections.
3) The liability to the city was terminated as of the current
request of $18,782.69. All other future cbst,•would be greatly
reduced if the policy of "developer initiated" certifications
could be worked out.
ACTION: The Finance Committee approved unanimously the transfer
of $18,782.69 from the Reserves - /Account to the Consuftnts
Service Account.
