HomeMy WebLinkAboutMBC 03/21/1989Meeting called to order at 7:35 P.M. for School business"
R. Usela of HMFH architects made a presentation on the school
project. The presentation included drawings of the site, a model
and various ectional interior views" The site plans included
two types of roadways onthe site. The first was similar to the
initial proposal with an entrance on Fast st. and an exit on Ware
st" The second included two loops one on each of the two previously
mentioned streets howevery each was an entrance/exit"
A motion Has made, seconded and voted unanimous to select the road
plan with a single loop from East s+^ to Ware st,
Further presentation included discussion of building design. It
was noted that the second floor design now included only one corridor
as a passage to the other school wing instead of the two originally
proposed" In addition, the buid]ing footprint was slightly smaller
and cost estimates on construction now allowed adding in 4 more
classroms for a total population of 900^
The architect noted they wanted to meet with the MBC to discuss HVAC
issues. It was noted that they could come to the next MBC meeting
on 3/28 and be hoard first.
The project schedule was discussed and it was noted that the schedule
had slipped again. The new date to he ready for the SBA9 review was
now September" L. Amoroso noted that the contractual agreement was to
be ready in June 1929 and that the architect stated that at the time
(this was in Nov" 1988) it was tight however, it was feasible to
complete for June 1989" J" Miller countered with the fact that the
delay was due to the contract not bein ggiven in a timely fashion.
It was noted that the architect was directed to proceed in lieu of a
formal contract" General discussion centered around the fact that the
commitment for 67 percent reimhursemnt of building cost was believed to
expire in June 1989 and that this was why we need to be to the SBAB"
