Bernie Jackson informed the MBC that there was a serious problem with he auditorium wall at Mansfield High School. This has been an ongoing situation but today Bernie met with representatives from Stahl Consultants and Guimont Structural Engineering. Bernie stated that this was a structural problem that required both interior and exterior reinforcement. The repair costs were estimated in excess of $100,000. Bernie would like to have the MBC get involved in this project as it is a structural problem and out of the scope of his expertise. The MBC and Don Nicoletti discussed the plan of action for this repair. Don was advised to contact the Finance Committee and inform them that an emergency transfer may be needed to cover the cost of this repair. Bernie will forward a copy of the file to the MBC to review. The MBC will hold a meeting on March 1, 1994, at Mansfield High School with representatives from Stahl Assoc., Guimont Structural Engineers, FmCom, Board of Selectmen and the Building Inspectors office to discuss the auditorium wall. MUNICIPAL BUILDING FEASIBILITY STUDY Doug Annino was not present at this meeting. The Committee reviewed the revised edition of the Municipal Building Feasibility Report published by Max Ferro. The MBC invited Arthur O'Neill - Police Chief and Edward Sliney - Fire Chief to attend the meeting. Chief Sliney was unable to attend. Chief CNeill read the recommendations of Preservation Partnership and commented that he was happy with the concept and liked the location. He also stated that the Police Station section was very likable and very nice. The MBC discussed the possibility of regionalization or a joint facility with Foxboro. At this time, it was not likely that this would be a good option. Mansfield is not in the position of building a new facility at this time. Arthur stated that the MPD and the Foxboro Police Department do cooperate with cell sharing on various concert events. The committee also discussed the possibility of a joint police and fire facility. This idea had been reviewed and was determined unworkable because the Town was not building anew facility. It was not feasible to relocate the fire department 1/2 mile down the road. The study was revised to include a third option for the Fire Department. The option would allow for a building of two stations a four bay station and a three bay station with locations in East and West Mansfield. This option could be phased in with the eventual closing and sale of the central station. The situation with the present station in West Mansfield is critical. y: MBC 2-22-94, Minutes pg. 3 The report was read and edited for the final time prior to the presentation to the Board of Selectmen on February 23, 1994. The next meeting of the MBC is scheduled for March 1, 1994, at Mansfield High School. A motion was made to adjourn the meeting. Motion passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Maureen R. Doherty Secretary
