MANSFIELD HIGH SCHOOL - AUDITORIUM WALL UPDATE:
The MBC had requested a transfer in the amount of $14,780.00 from Town funds. This
money was needed to cover the cost of the repair of the MHS auditorium wall. The
Board of Selectmen tabled this item until it could be further investigated with the School
Department. Because the repairs need to be completed, the MBC decided to proceed with
the contract for a value of $65,000, removing the drywall and painting portion of the
repair. A motion was made to authorize Mr. Frank St. Pierre of Stahl Associates to
prepare a contract between Riverside Builders, Inc. and the Town of Mansfield for
the amount of $65,000 for the repair of the auditorium wall in Mansfield High
School. The MBC voted on March 1, 1994, to declare this an emergency situation
and to proceed as such, making sure all legal and contractual obligations are met in
accordance to the statute. The drywall and painting stage of the project will be
completed as soon as funds are made available from Town funds. (Feeley/Carpenter)
6-0-0. The motion passed unanimously.
A motion was made include the drywall installation and the painting as an add
alternate to the contract as son as the funds become available. (Giordano/Young) 6-

A motion was made to accept the minutes of June 28, 1994 as written
(Carpenter/Amoruso) The motion passed unanimously.
JORDAN/JACKSON SCHOOL UPDATE:
The MBC discussed the heating problems at the Jordan/Jackson Elementary School
Complex. A motion was made to send a letter to Atty. Mangiaratti, expressing the
MBC's intention not to settle. HMFH Architects, Inc. should remedy the situation
to insure that we have a working heating system. The letter also should state the
cost of supervision and expenses should be covered by HMFH, Inc. CC to all
involved parties. (Amoruso/Micheli)8-0-0. The Motion passed unanimously.
Bernie Jackson had received three bids for the repair of the soccer fields. A motion
was made to send a letter to Atty. Mangiaratti requesting that he notifies R. W.
Granger and Sons, Inc. that we will be holding their company responsible for the
inadequate fields. The letter should state that the fields were not built according to
specifications and that the MBC has not accepted the landscape work.
(Carpenter/Giordano) 8-0-0. The motion passed unanimously.
Bernie asked the Committee if they knew a group of volunteers that were interested in
installing the basketball hoops. Emil supplied Bernie with the list of volunteer groups.
The MBC received a copy of Plan B. Plan B is the proposed plan for the capital
improvement projects for the Municipal Buildings. A motion was made to table this
until the article passed at Town meeting. (Carpenter/Feeley) 4-0-0.
Larry asked if the MBC could appoint a member to attend the Capital Improvement
Committee meeting of July 21, 1994 as he will be on vacation. A motion was made to
appoint Steve MacCaffrie. (Young/Feeley) 4-0-0. The motion passed unanimously.
Steve asked the secretary to notify the CIC Chair about this appointment.
Ms. Trisha McKinnon of the Mansfield News attended the meeting. She told the
Committee that she was doing an article on the Municipal Building Feasibility Study. The
MBC discussed the study, the make-up of the group and the results. There was a general
feeling of fiustration with the lack of movement of the plans for Town Meeting. Steve felt
personally disappointed, the MBFSC was made up of members of the MBC, Board of
Selectmen, Planning Board and town management. This was a group of professionals that
worked well together and with the assistance of Preservation Partnership put forth a
feasibility study for the Town owned buildings.
Bob Gurek told the MBC that Bernie Jackson was reviewing the final draft of the Gale
Associates report.
The next meeting of the MBC will be held on August 9, 1994, at 7:00 p.m. in room 101
at Mansfield High School. The MBC will tour the Qualters Middle School on August 10,
1994, at 7:00 p.m. A motion was made to adjourn the meeting. The meeting adjourned at
8:52 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Maureen R Doherty
