MUNICIPAL UPDATES.-
The
PDATES:
The MBC and Mr. Don Walter discussed the outstanding items for the Town Hall and
West Mansfield Fire Station. The Committee was distressed that only one price for
sprinkler system was received. The MBC had been requesting prices since April 10th.
Member Liddick mentioned that he would like Consigli to pay the additional costs for not
promptly responding to our requests - It was also requested that Strekalovsky and Hoit
have an answer to the Committee by June 11th.
Change Order #5 - was presented. The Committee would like to review this prior to
signing. The AMC requested back-up documentation for the changes in the HVAC. They
asked that the Architect refer to the original deduct proposals and give a comparison.
HVAC - Member Carpenter asked that TCI review the installation in accordance with the
revised drawings there are so many notes on the plans. Strekalovsky & Hoit will review
these plans and confer.
Roof Top Unit three - Everything was released at the last construction meeting on 7-2-96,
Concerns about opening at Memorial Hall were discussed There were some items that
need to be resolved concerning the relation of data and voice cable.
Member Carpenter asked that Consigli give a weekly schedule and have it noted that we
will review the requisitions.
MBC Minutes 7-9-96
Mr. Walter assured the MBC that everything that was requested in the July 1, 1996, letter
from the Building Inspector's Office - will be submitted as one package (awaiting a
stamped drawing from the structural engineer) within a couple of days.
Reviewed request for Pay phone - it was not cost effective. Mrs. Scott stated there was a
pay phone installed at one time and the usage did not meet the required minimum.
Member Liddick asked that Consigli confirm the delivery date for the curtain wall in the
connector. (It should be 9-16-96.)
Color samples of carpeting. A color board will be presented at the next MBC meeting
FIRE STATION:
Chief Shney expressed concern with the delay with the costs for the Sprinkler System.
The fire alarm system could be modified if this is installed.
There was discussion in regards to the installation of in -wall air conditioning (AC) unit -
sleeves. There's 9 openings. The Chief said that he could buy the sleeves for
approximately $20.00 each and requested that the sleeves for the AC units be installed
during construction. It was the consensus of the Committee that this work should be done
at this phase of construction. The Fire Chief will furnish the details to L. Bartow clerk,
to coordinate this with the Architect and contractor.
Member Liddick stressed the need to have all items reviewed prior to the next MBC
meeting.
Arthur O'Neill, Chief of Police questioned the number of cells that were to be included in
the revision of the station. The number of cells were reviewed and it was the opinion of
the Committee that the number of cells had been determined by the Chief was the number
that the architects were using for pricing. The Police Station will be discussed on July
23rd.
SCHOOL UPDATES - ROBINSON SCHOOL:
The MBC discussed the specs and would like the wording to be such that seasons are
delineated for work. There should be wording for the Contractor to give them a detailed
schedule within 30 days of award. It should be phased at the discretion of the owner. In
the bidding documents things such as the cafeteria cannot be closed during the school
year or the kindergartens cannot be renovated until the new kindergartens are completed
need to be addressed as well as school parking issues and bus routes. We need to be
careful in doing this as we do not want to be too specific to box the contractor in. The
field trailers should be located in one area. The stagging area should be adjacent to the
work area so that there isn't a cross over area.
MBC Minutes 7-9-96
Discussed making the addition structurally sound to support the addition of a second level
- upgrading mechanicals will not be explored. This will be reviewed on a preliminary
basis.
MOTION: To adjourn at 9:30pm (Carpenter/Liddick) Unanimous
Respectfully submitted,
Maureen R Doherty -
Administrative Secretary
