These items have been reviewed with the mechanical consultants to fine tune the costs of their systems. (Furnishings will have to be included on the next year budget FY98) Chief O'Neill asked if this price included the specialized metal cabinetry for the centralized dispatch. Chairman Young says that we are not at that level of detail yet) Town Meeting - FINCOM will do the numbers, Chief Sliney and Chief O'Neill will do their display for their stations. FINCOM went over the articles for Town Meeting. There's $550,000 for free cash. The Board of Selectmen will have to set priorities. FIRE STATION: Chief Sliney was not able to produce specifications for the Tower manufacturer. The tower pad and the generator pad were discussed. The Clerk stated that he had reviewed the Chief s questions conceiving the generator pad's electrical piping was not located correctly on the pad, not being built according to specifications and being situated incorrectly on the site. The Clerk had reviewed the plans and specifications and the generator pad is properly located and built in accordance to the generator that has been specified. SCHOOL PROJECTS Discussed phasing plans: The AMC felt that there needed to be more definition for staging areas, and the bus loops. They don't match what was discussed. The MBC needs to walk through the phase plans and give dates. Member Liddick feels that the phasing is the one part of the plan that we can control. There were no charges associated with the redesign and the relocation of the classrooms, the building footprint will be reduced by 8 inches. Discussed the relocation of faculty toilets. Discussed the roof and the use of larger scale element for shingles. Member Feeley asked about the installation of snow guards and the requirements on the asphalt and the performance specifications were also discussed regarding snow guards and roof vents. All valleys and transition slopes will have special venting with ice and water barriers installed. There will be an R30 calculation for the walls and roof system. Member Liddick asked about further savings for flat roof over kindergarten building and cafetorium. Member Feeley stated he had a problem with flat roofs. Member Liddick stated that he feels if a flat is done correctly it will be just as good. There maybe a problem with design coordination at this point. Chairman Young feels that we should not go with a flat roof at this time. The roof will have a pitch of 5. The base bid will include shingle roof with an f- ad alternate of metal roof. Discussion also took place on the location of the gutters, and v down spouts. School Committee member Trowbridge asked about the a of duct iron piping as opposed to PVC. Mr. Ashton was asked to research this and a if there w d be a cost savings associated with this. There was a review of the projected schedule for the Robinson School. School Committee member Giordano asked what the volume of jobs is going to be during this time frame. It appears that there are a great number of jobs going out during this time. Member Liddick stated that he feels that the closer we get to the end of the year that it may be difficult to start the job unless we are able to get a foundation permit immediately. It is important that the front end of the job go correctly. Bid schedule must be met. There was a discussion of the phasing plan on the bus loop must be completed by the start of the shell of the cafetorium in Phase H. A recommendation was made to coordinate of the transformer and the elevator bank in Phase I. Revised Phasing plan will be submitted next Tuesday. Each of the members gave their comments of the documents. Removal of the oil tank was discussed and it would be included in this project. Dual fuel is needed to be included for the chapter 60 calculations. For the sake of economy we need to heat the school on the cheapest fuel available. There was a review of the badge system.
