MUNICIPAL PROJECTS:
CLERKS REPORT:
The Clerk reported on the status of work completed at Town Hall. He expressed concern
with the electrical contractor. There were a number of items that were addressed.
1. Window lintels need painting: Color Concepts are on the job.
2. Repointing wall smiace and all roof chimneys:
MOTION: To authorize Consigli to rep oint all the chimneys not to exceed
$2500.00. (Liddick/Carpenter) 0-2-1 (Feeley abstained) FAILED
Member Liddick stated the he feels that contractually Consigli has not completed the
work that was supposed to be done under the specifications. Member Liddick expressed
his concern that this item might be considered as "distressed brick" and should have been
included. Member Carpenter wants the architect to direct Consigh to perform this work.
Selectman Madan expressed his concern over this from on site investigations. (Selectman
Madan is the mechanical inspector for the Town) There's approximately $2,000 left to
complete this work.
MBC Minutes Nov. 19, 1996
MOTION: To request sufficient back up to support this request for labor and
materials, and to ask for the architects interpretation of distressed
brick on the roof and to obtain an estimate by 11/20/96. (Liddick
Carpenter 3-0-0)
MOTION: To authorize the change order based on the estimate less any labor
and material charges as they relate to the distressed brick unless it
determined by Strekalovsky and Hoit feels that Consigli does not
own the distressed brick then the chair has the permission of the
MBC to proceed with the change order. (Liddick/Carpenter 3-0-0)
Selectman Madan will meet with the Clerk and review the mortar connections on the
decorative molding.
3. Roof Ladder: concern was expressed over the installation and materials used on this
ladder.
MOTION: To send a letter to Strekalovsky and Hoit asking them to look at
this ladder and issue a drawing and confirmation letter stating that
this ladder meets code and if not: then recommend what needs to
be done. (Caipenter/Liddick 3-0-0)
4. Window Fix: The materials are in and the windows will be fixed this week.
5. Roof Top HVAC Units - The unit in question will be moved so that it is properly
position on the roof joists. Insulation will be looked at to insure that it has not been
crushed.
6. Roof membrane acceptance: Consigli is addressing this problem for resolution.
FireStone will do the final inspection.
7. Parapet cap installation - will be done
The letter from the building inspectors office was reviewed by the committee. All items
that were listed were referred and addressed by the architect and TCI. Selectman Madan
mentioned that the boiler room needs to be 1 hour fire rated.
The mechanical inspector gave the approval, to close the ceilings, on the second and third
Roof.
There appears to be inadequate lighting on the stairways in the connector. This is being
researched.
Deputy Chief Robert Bellavance presented the committee with the Fire Department's
review of the building and submitted their list of punch list items. This will be forwarded
to the architect for action.
MBC Minutes Nov. 19, 1996
MEMORIAL HALL:
Kate Viens of the Historical Commission discussed the work that needed to be done at
Memorial Hall. She stated that there is a possibility of a grant fiom Preservation Projects
Fund 50/50 matching grant. The members of the MBC stated that they are awaiting
direction from the Town Manager on this project. It was not included in the original
scope of the capital plan - Town Hall project and the MBC does not have jurisdiction to
add items such as this to the project. Member Carpenter did state that because of the age
of the building there may be more work than is anticipated (i.e. soffit repair, shingles etc.)
Selectman Madan noted his concern, that this work should be addressed by the proper
persons.
Member Carpenter stated that he had a prior commitment had would have to leave the
meeting.
MOTION: To adjourn: (Carpenter/Liddick 3-0-0)
Respectfully submitted,
