POLICE STATION:
Chief O'Neill, Mr. Hoit and Chairman Young discussed the presentation for Board of
Selectmen that is scheduled for 1/15/97. Add Alternates for landscaping and paving the
outer unpaved lot were briefly discussed. Other possible add alternate options were the
generator and window work. ` The roof membrane on the flat areas will be replaced. The
Chief stated that the roof is currently leaking in the vault area. The architect gave an
overview of the revisions from the previously bid plan. Member Feeley asked the Chief
is he saw any deficiencies or items that needed to be added in the present plans. The Chief
commented on the video surveillance cameras, and asked if they will be mounted in the
cell areas as well as outside. There was discussion on adding 4 exterior mounted cameras.
It was the consensus of the Committee to add the wiring and blank boxes for the future
addition of exterior, cameras. The Chief asked about the cell ceiling height. He stated that
he would like to have the ceilings as high as physically possible. They are presently
plamied for 8 feet. The architect will research extending the ceiling height. The bid
schedule was discussed. The bids should come in the mid-March. Member Carpenter
asked that the specifications contain language pertaining to the date that the building is
available for construction.
Member Feeley asked if the variance for landscaping had been recorded and if it has an
expiration date. The Town Manager will review the validity of the variance for landscape
at the Police Station.
The Chief will review the plans to see if there is an area that can accommodate an armory.
The scope of the Central Fire Station Project will be determined by the Town Manager.
TOWN HALL UPDATE:
Mr. Bartolini gave an overview of the project. The project is nearly at completion. The
architect had the response for the building inspectors letter of January 9, 1997. The
architect gave an status report on the final closure preparations for the project. The
architect stated that the certification for the vault will be sent in this week. The architect
f.
reviewed the vault shelving and stated that the vault is structurally sound to support these
shelves.
Mr. Bartolini stated that the connector roof has stopped leaking. Member Carpenter has
asked for a monetized punch list so that the correct amount can be withheld.
The Committee reviewed The Certificate for the Substantial Completion which was dated
on January 10, 1997. This certificate is good for 75 days. Some items, such as air
conditioning cannot be accepted until they are tested. The architect, committee and the
contractor need to come to terms with a monetary value for the punch list items.
