Mr. Amoruso discussed Cable Access's plan to build a studio building be' d QMS. This space has been
offered by the School Department. Location would put it in close proximi to the Memorial Park and the
school complex. Anticipated to be +/- 2000 sf. Budget is approx. $ 100L Carpenter suggested that Cable
Access utilize Keyes Assocs. for preliminary programming since they are the Architect for the QMS
renovations. Cable Access would like building available within 2 yrs.
Town Hall issues
Mr. Williams indicated that ew on vault door was malfunctioning; Consigh has been notified. The
wooden ladder to the roof is repo M to be loose. Mr, Madan asked if a metal ladder could be installed in
place of the wooden one. It was the committee's opinion that the ladder's proximity to the electric panels
would prevent a metal ladder from being acceptable. Fiberglass may be a better option.
MOTION: To ask the Building Dept. for their opinion and guidance on the proper ladder for this
area and a subsequent letter to S&H for design and pricing. (RF/WA 5-0)
The location of the Fire Dept. key box was discussed Chief Sliney indicated that both doors open up fully
and hit the concrete, He suggested that heavy duty door stops be installed instead; the Fire Dept, will not
relocate the key box. The Committee will see if the door closer can be adjusted to prevent the doors from
swinging fully open.
Mr. Williams reported that overflow of materials brought in during the move need to be stored in the
basement of Memorial Hall. In order to do this, he requested that the MBC fund from the Town Hall
budget a Purchase Order to construct a partition which is required by the Building Dept.'
MOTION: To reject this request to fund Purchase Order for $950 (LC/JL 5-0)
MOTION: To request additional information from Town Manager on space requirements and
costs for storing archive materials'(LC/WA 41 Feeley)
A discussion ensued concerning Town Manager's request to fund the Mail Room shelving which has
already been installed.
MOTION: To fund up to $2,500 for furnishing and installing Mail Room shelving from the
Town Hall project at the request of the Town Manager subject to the funds being replenished by the Town
Manager and Board of Selectmen should it be necessary (WA/JL 41, Feeley)
West Mansfield fire Station
Chief Sliney reported that another apparatus bay door cord had been severed. The longer cord which was
installed in place of the first cord which had been cut seems to work. He also said that the Overhead Door
Co. suggested another possible fix. Water Heater appears to be functioning properly.

Central Fire Station-
chief Sliney requested that all work be included in the Police Station bid as was shown on the previous
plans except for the items which related to the relocation of MEMA to Central Fire.
Summary of discussion:
1. Replace all overhead doors
2. Install an overhead door in place of the new man door shown
3. Delete new lavatory facilities
4. Do not relocate compressor
5. Replace exterior doors. If possible, reuse ornamental frame on entrance door. Full glass door in this
location is preferable.
6. Replace doors on tower
7. Install double doors at generator
8. Refinish floor after grinding (suggestion of the Committee was for the Department to paint the floor
only)
9. Install overhead fills (these were not included in the last set of plans)
Chief Sliney will review the plans and return comments to the Committee next week
Police Station
The resumes of the Project Coordinator applicants were reviewed. 3 candidates were chosen and will be
interviewed on 2/18/97.
Lt. Crickard reported that pre-release prisoners would be available to perform the selective demolition
" work. He also indicated that they have electricians available to cut and make-safe existing electrical feeds.
The Committee will review the feasibility of this proposal. Work should be coordinated through S&H.
The current Police Station plans were reviewed in detail. This review will be forwarded to S&H for their
coordination and incorporation into the bid documents. l Lt, Crickard will coordinate the detailed Police
review of the room finish and door schedule.'
