MUNICIPAL PROJECTS:
POLICE STATION:
Mr, Hoitreviewed the bids for the sub bids for the Police Station/Central Fire Projects.
The bids were within $20,000 of the estimate. The General Contractors bids are
scheduled to be opened on April 11, 1997 at 3:00pm.
The committee reviewed the filed sub -bids for the HVAC work. There was a question
raised concerning the validity of the bids because during the snowstorm the Governor had
declared a state of emergency. The architect contacted the Attorney General's office that
stated that because the Town Hall was opened and the mail was delivered it was okay to
open the bids. The Committee also reviewed the list of general contractors that requested
plans.
TOWN HALL:
Status of the Code issues: Mr. Hoit stated that a faxed letter was sent to the Building
Inspectors Office today and that all issues will be addressed and answered by no later-
than 4/11/97. There was discussion concerning the ramp. ` The drawings were reviewed
in the architect's office and they are confident that all dimensions are correct. The
architect stated that there are two options: 1) Saw cut the wall and readjust the handrail.
Or 2.) Apply for a waiver from the Architectural Access Board. It was the opinion of the
Chair that due to the political climate the second option was not feasible. He stated that
this area of the building was new construction and not part of the rehab project.
The Building Department has approved the work on the front steps. Consigh stated that
they would like to do all the code work and punch list items at one time. The Town will
be responsible for the costs associated with fixing the South Main Street entrance. The
Park Row stair entrance will be completely re -done. New handrails will be installed.
