The Municipal Building Committee was invited to the School Committee meeting to give
an update on the progress of the Robinson School Construction Project. Chairman
Liddick and Project Coordinator Walter Parker informed the members of the School
Committee and the public on the phasing of the project as well as the plans to have the
school ready of the first day on September 3, 1997.
Town Hall Proiect:
The Chair asked the Acting Town Manager (ATM) if he has had an update on the Town
Hall Project. The ATM stated that there still appears to be problems with the A/C unit.
The Unit appears to be shutting off periodically. The Committee recommended that this
be followed-up though building maintenance and handled as a warranty issue.
The Committee discussed the issues remaining at Town Hall.
1. Seal Coating the parking lot the ATM discussed the fact that the parking lot will
require maintenance because the cut lessened the integrity of the lot. The Chair
stated that we are not finished with the contractor, however, he feels that they will
not come back to re finish this portion of the site work.
2. Landscape - the acting town manager and the chair discussed the completion of
the landscaping. The ATM stated that he feels that we should with hold the
amount of $5600.00 (a price that was supplied by Guerrini Landscaping) The
committee stated that the contractor needs to be put on notice. Following this
procedure would be illegal and the contractor could take legal action against the
Town.
3. Air conditioner enclosure the ATM stated that he doesn't like the structure that
was installed around the chiller. He stated that it doesn't look good. He would
like to have something constructed that matches the exterior building. The ATM
asked if this would be covered under the architects Errors and Omission
Insurance. The Chair explained the Errors and Omission insurance and what it
covers.
4. Completion of Project - The ATM commented on rumors that he had heard
regarding the location of the chiller. The Chair explained the frustration of the
Committee. It was the consensus of the Committee that they would not respond
to rumors and hearsay. The Chair stated that he feels that the contractor has not
fulfilled his contractual obligation.
5. Light bulbs— the committee asked that the Town Manager buy light bulbs and
replace any that are burnt out. The contractor will furnish additional; supplies to
the DPW.
6, Member Feeley would like to discuss the possibility to meet with Town Counsel
regarding notification of bonding company and termination of contract. The
Acting Town Manager gave his approval for the use of Town Counsel.
POLICE STATION:
The Chair discussed the employment of the clerk of the works. The clerk now needs to
check in with the Town Manager's office. The committee discussed the option of the

sign -in book. There was discussion of the possibility of having the Robinson School
1 Project Coordinator assume the responsibilities for clerking this job. The ATM
suggested that Mike Ahern from DPW watch the job. The Chair explained that the clerk
job has many facets. The Chief stated that he feels that one of his officers' would be
qualified to supervise the job. The Chief discussed the masonry work in the station.
Member Feeley discussed steel plating the entire cells. The ceiling in the sally port needs
to be fire rated. The Chief stated that he relocated the door in his office. The Chief asked
if he could have the windows in his office enlarged. The Committee felt that there was
not enough money available to enlarge the windows.
MOTION: To adjourn at 9:30 (WA/RF-3-0-0)
Respectfully submitted,
Richard Feeley, Clerk
