• A memo to R. Boucher from D. Clifford RE: Paving - (there was discussion
regarding the amount of the deduction for the paving. The acting Town Manager
informed the Committee that the DPW costs would be $30, 000 to reclaim and pave
the parking lot. The contract stipulates that the amount is $10,000. The acting Town
Manager asked what the plans were for the Central Fire Station project. Member
Feeley asked about the $IS, 000 that was spent from project)unds for shelving. The
Police Station Project is not complete and we do not know the amount of funds that
will be available at the end of the project. There are still items that are outstanding
and we need to determine what will happen at Town Hall so that we can determine
what the amount will be available. The Central Fire Station should be done in the
spring. DPW dug up all the compacted and rolled stone that was installed as the
driveway for the sally port. BBC Co., Inc. owns that site —Mr. Boucher informed the
Committee that he had received two bids to have the site paved over. Mr. Ralph
Penny from Penny Engineering explored the area of contamination at the Police
Station site and the scope has changed. It is now estimated to be less than 100 cubic
yards of contaminated material. The cost of this work will be $12, 000. DPW is
delineating the site. DPW disturbed a section of crushed stone driveway. The
consensus of the Committee is that that all work needs to be coordinated through
BBC so that this work can be completed. Member Young asked where the money is
coming from to pave the lot. Chairman Liddick stated that the direction of the
Selectman was to make the station usable — the MBC authorized the contractor to put
in a crushed stone drive that would allow access to the sally ports.
