General Update — Chris Sullivan provided a status update of construction activity on site.
• Installation of one unit ventilator in the gym area is complete.
• The steel decking in new addition is almost complete.
• Roof membrane is to be installed next week. Ms. Sullivan noted that the decking will be
inspected at this time.
• Based on weather conditions, any wiring that was safe to install in the new wing, has been
installed.
• Punch list for bathroom is complete
Temp. Gym Egress — Chris Sullivan reported that J.T. Callahan has cut the door opening for
temporary egress in the new gym area, as required by the Fire Dept. Ms. Sullivan noted that at
this time, J.T. Callahan plans to fill in and re -brick the temporary door entry upon completion of
the new gym space. Committee members expressed support to leaving the doorway in place.
Ms. Sullivan noted that a new doorway is not indicated in the contract, therefore J.T. Callahan
would have the option to leave the door or remove it and restore the wall to its original condition.
Rich Feeley expressed concern re: the esthetics of re -bricking the doorway to the existing
building. Ms. Sullivan responded stating that the masons on the QMS job could handle the
necessary work involved.
Fire Detection/New Gym — Chris Sullivan noted that smoke detectors were installed as well as
emergency exit lights at the new gym door.
Asbestos Removal - Chris Sullivan received a proposal from Suburban Middlesex Insulation.
The expense for removal of asbestos on the convectors at QMS is estimated at $15K. Ms.
Sullivan has cost breakdown.
MOTION to approve the asbestos removal proposal as submitted by Suburban Middlesex
Insulation, pending a positive recommendation from Ammar Dieb, Universal Engineering.
Chris Sullivan will fax proposal to Ammar Dieb, Universal Engineering for his review.
JL/DY Passes 5-0.
Gym Ceiling - Chris Sullivan reported that J.T. Callahan will be doing a sample of patching and
painting to repair the ceiling damage during April school vacation. If the sample repair work is
satisfactory, the contractor will complete the remaining ceiling repair this summer. David
Young asked Ms. Sullivan to determine what product(s) will be used for the repairs and that
Keyes approve it prior to work being done.
Gym Addition Floor — Dan Freeman reported that his preliminary discussions with J.T. Callahan
regarding the cost of the new gym mats showed that the proposed credit amount by JTC should
be higher. Issue pending.
Curbing at Bus Loop — Ken Gay reported that concrete appears to be heaving near curb.
Discussion opened as to possible cause. Recent heavy rains followed by freezing temperatures
may have caused the problem. Chris Sullivan to follow up with Alan Corvi, Keyes Associates.
Wiring for Cable — Ken Gay requested that TCI review the finishes planned for new TV cable
locations. Mr. Gay questioned existing wire mold raceway verses E.M.T.
Louver — MA Building Code requires that 5% area of the stage be ventilated. Keyes Assoc.
working out 3 UL rated louvers for exhaust.
Fire Curtain — Chris Sullivan raised the issue re: status of the fire curtain in the auditorium. A
request was made to obtain a written recommendation from Universal Engineering. Building
Dept. requires that a curtain be in place. Chris Sullivan will follow up. A suggestion was by
Ken Gay to have the curtain's fusible link tested.
Kitchen Changes — Chris Sullivan verified that the new Vulcan stove planned for QMS would
match the rough -in indicated on the plans. Walter Parker noted that Dawn Florence would be
ordering the stove.
Sprinkling Crawl Space — In discussion with Lt. Sarro, Ms. Sullivan noted that there are live
wires that need to be covered in the crawl space area. Need to address heat/smoke detectors in
this area.
Electrical Panel - Existing janitor closet at 2nd floor west wing includes mop sink inside and
electrical panel. Ms. Sullivan noted that having both water and electrical together is against
code. Committee discussed possible options. Chris will follow up with electrical contractor re:
moving service.
Generator - Chris Sullivan reported that the existing generator does not meet Building Code
requirements. Discussion was that the vintage equipment was having problems. Walter Parker
to replace with new battery pack to regain operation. Carbon monoxide testing is expected from
the Building Dept. The consensus is that the generator will not pass inspection. Installation of a
new generator is not part of J.T. Callahan's contract and would be costly. New code requires
generator to have a separate enclosure or be located outside. Dan Freeman to have TCI
investigate.
Visitors Lop_— David Young asked if J.T. Callahan has started keeping a record of visitors on
site. If some one gets hurt on site, it becomes a liability issue for the Town. Chris Sullivan to
follow up.

logging the progress of the Project.
TV Cabling —Bob Gurek stated that proper notification was not given to Time Warner to do
cabling at the Robinson School. Richard Feeley noted to Mr. Gurek that the MBC made several
inquiries to determine if funds were available to install cable at Robinson. The Committee was
told that no funds were available at that time. Bob Gurek explained that the use of actual cash
was replaced by a Social contract with the Town. All three schools will be cabled for TV.
Windows Panels — Dan Freeman questioned Cheviot re: promises of 1-24-99 re: delivery.
The shop drawings were approved in mid-December by J.T. Callahan and Keyes Assoc.
Expected delivery is 8-10 weeks. Mr. Freeman noted that the windows should be in by now.
J.T. Callahan has sent a letter to Cheviot demanding delivery or pay cost of delaying of project.
