Callahan ref. delays to the MHS project. Jim May commented that the reasons cited by JTC for causing delays were unsubstantiated. Issues relating to lintels, metal flashing and hardware etc. were resolved weeks ago. Rich Feeley asked Jim May to send letter of response to JTC. HVAC — Project Coordinator noted existing clearance issues found throughout building. Conduit is not properly supported. Electrical issues will be rectified. Manpower — Paul Letendre reported that since the MBC's recent discussions with 7.T. Callahan re: acceleration, manpower is increased and subcontractors have been more cooperative on site. Supervision by JTC has also been more visible in the field. Cafeteria — Project Coordinator stated that cafeteria should be ready Aug. 26, 1999. Paul Letendre reported that most of the pending questions have been clarified. The ductwork is ready for fabrication. Libra — Sketches have been received relating to conflict with ductwork at Library. Issue is resolved. Chemistry Lab. — TCI reviewing location of new unit. Force Main — Water shut-off is expected during the first week of August. Dig Safe has been notified. Paul Letendre will notify Chris Sullivan and other necessary parties. Change Order #2 — Change Order #2 was rejected as presented. MBC questioned status of large outstanding credits due to the Town that were not reflected in the Change Order (i.e. ball field, resinous flooring etc.) Jim May will follow up with Marc Jaoude to include the credits due. MBC takes exception to all time increases to contract as indicated by JTC. Roof Shingles — Original objective was to try to match roof shingles for MHS to the shingles used at the Robinson School. Jim May stated that the roofer has not provided a shingle that meets requirements. Proposal was rejected. Roofer to resubmit. MBC requested laminated architectural shingles. Shingles must have 30 year warranty. Gypsum Decking —Jim May commented that an allowance of 10,000 sq. ft. was carried to destroy gypsum deck. Mr. May reported that the vapor barrier appears to have saved gypsum. Credit to the Town is expected. Perimeter Blocking — Mr. May reported that the existing perimeter blocking is being reused. Credit is expected. Roof Decking System Jim May noted that credit is also expected for the roof decking in the South Addition. Next MBC Meeting -Jim May noted that he would not be available for the next meeting of the MBC as he is on vacation next week. QUALTERS MIDDLE SCHOOL UPDATE Door/Hardware Schedule —Construction Consulting complaint received re: Keyes delayed response time to RFI. Steve Chmura commented that the issue has been pending a response from Walter Parker as to the availability of doors from school stock. Mr. Parker commented that doors are not core doors and therefore could not be used. Mr. Chmura will move forward to resolve issue with Construction Consulting. New doors will be ordered. Estimated delivery for doors will be approximately 4 weeks. Accelerate Schedule — Project Coordinator commented that the acceleration period is through Sept. 1, 1999. Half time pay rate is for trades only impacted by the SMI issue. Letter to be sent from MBC to J.T. Callahan requesting a proposed acceleration schedule, specific trades authorized to accelerate and required manpower to staff job. Cafeteria — Work in the cafeteria is moving along well Kitchen Floor Drain —Project Coordinator reported issue with approximately 6 drains specified in Kitchen area. Some have flashing collars, some do not. Collars are necessary to prevent leakage and have been ordered. Approximate cost $500.00. Final Cleaning — School Dept. proposed that the school staff do final cleaning. Committee responded that the contractor owns final cleaning by Contract. The Project Coordinator noted that if school personnel help with the final cleaning they must be under the direction of the Contractor for the hours required. Due to possible conflict in schedule and liability, it was decided that the Contractor would do final cleaning. Punch List/2"d Floor - Classrooms to be punched on Thursday, July 29, 1999. Lockers — Lockers should arrive during the second week of August, 1999. School Furnishings — Walter Parker reported that deliveries are expected the week of August 13°i through August 16, 1999. Elevator Inspection —Project Coordinator noted that a Request for Inspection has been made. Chris Sullivan will call Signet to get phone lines delivered. Walter Parker has ordered 3 lines for elevator. Telephone lines — Walter Parker questioned need for dedicated phone lines for Thyssen Elevator. Dedicated lines are required by code. Chris Sullivan to follow up. Unit Ventilators — 7 out of 9 are completed. Windows — Cheviot Corp. is on site and currently working on the 2"a floor. Fleet Environmental - Chris Sullivan reported that Fleet is performing abatement work satisfactorily as expected. Fleet is expected to accept draft of agreement with the town as written and amended by Attorney Russell F. Conn. Project Administration — Project Coordinator commented that she has not been receiving written correspondence from J. T. Callahan. MOTION to move forward to order 100 pieces of 1/4" safety glass from Bristol Glass at $48.00 each. Walter Parker to place order.
