Cafeteria Issues:
• Flooring - Contractor plans to install quarry tile in cafeteria this Friday (8-13-99).
• Kitchen Equipment — MBC questioned status of equipment delivery. Paul Ciaramitaro
verified that equipment is in warehouse. Pieces are arriving daily to site.
• Drywall - Per JTC, drywall is installed. Contractor is putting up seven soffits. Per JTC, work
to be completed by Wednesday. Two large soffits remain to be completed.
• Ceiling - Work should start by Monday. Issue raised re: extended ductwork. Sizing does not
fit through grid. Remaining ceiling work to be performed the week of Aug 23, 1999.
• Kitchen Flooring - Tile needs to be installed. Estimated timeframe for installation is 3-5 days.
• Walk in freezer units — MBC noted that quarry tile is owned by JTC under walk in area and
directed Contractor to proceed with work.
• Additional ductwork was done for lighting.
• Sprinkler - Complete.
• Columns - Michael Callahan noted that JTC has additional crew scheduled to install covers
for columns this week -end.
• Rain leader - Suggestion was made by MBC to enclose the rain leader that follows steel
column in cafeteria as soon as possible.
Windows — Installation is incomplete. Contractor advised MBC of a manpower issue. Installer
needs more time to pull together crews. MBC stressed that installation of instructional room
windows are priority to open school for September. Stairwell windows are secondary priority.
Per JTC the South Wing could be done by end of week and the West Wing windows by middle
of next week.
Lintels - Issue was raised re: status of lintels. JTC responded that window lintels are fine in most
locations, however all I'` floor windows are being reinforced. Sarkis Zeronian previously
determined that 2"d floor would be left as is. Comment was made that the Structural Engineer
has not reviewed windows recently. JTC has asked Keyes to contact Structural Engineer to visit
site and review.
Window Conflict - Discussion re: windows being installed in conflict with walls and/or columns
making them inoperable. Bob Vogel argued that operable windows are not "technically" required
and that fresh air is increased with installation of new unit ventilators. Superintendent John
Moretti commented that the current window installation is unacceptable. MBC reiterated to
Keyes Associates that long term, the School Dept. and MBC would be held accountable to the
community as to why the windows do not open. A temporary fix is critical to enable school to
open in September however, MBC Chairman asked that Bob Vogel explore a permanent long
term fix to make windows operable. JTC stated no interest in installing any more windows at
this time. Keyes Assoc. directed JTC to proceed with installation of windows per contract.

be abated, moved, and ductwork changes. Estimated date to complete this work is Sept. 10,
1999.

lowered to complete installation of lights. Sash may need to be removed. Central Ceiling Inc.
recommended to vault ceiling up and boxed window. Estimated cost $7,000.00. MBC asked
Chris Sullivan to direct contractor proceed with this work.
