Field Committee — MBC adjourned to Selectmen's Meeting Room to attend joint meeting of Fields Committee and School Committee. John Moretti briefly announced that Keyes Associates is preparing a prospectus for the Town of Mansfield regarding field space. MBC was invited to attend the Selectmen's meeting on October 19, 1999 @ 8PM, where a proposal to create additional indoor recreation facility would be presented by the School Dept. Mr. Moretti informed the MBC of a suggestion being explored to convert the auditorium at QMS to a multi- purpose room, similar to the Jordan/Jackson School. (Temp. seating, stage w/curtain, gym flooring & teaching capabilities). Auditorium renovation is included in JTC contract. Project Coordinator to verify whether new auditorium seating has already been ordered. Contract Status — J.T. Callahan's contract for the QMS project is currently 90% complete Landscaping near front ramp — David Young expressed concern regarding project drawings showing extensive landscaping in the area intended for installation of the new generator. Steve Chmura to send letter to Wallace Floyd requesting that they review landscape plan. Elevator — Steve Chmura commented that JTC has refused to request an elevator inspection. Thyssen Elevator installed cab in second elevator in September. Carpet was installed last week. Waiting for electrical subcontractor to install heat and/or smoke detectors. Walter Parker confirmed that he has coordinated elevator phones and direct line to police station. MBC asked the Project Coordinator to pursue closure to issue with JTC. Elevator Pit #2 remains dry. Manpower — Concern expressed over limited manpower being provided by J.T. Callahan and Subcontractors. Punch List — Keyes to have three staff members reviewing punch list items on October 13, 1999. Project Coordinator noted that JTC has made little progress to addressing existing punch list items. Gym — Second finish coat on floor is complete. Mats to be installed next week. Project Coordinator noted that gym should be completed for occupancy by Monday, October 25, 1999. Comment was made that Walter Parker is still coordinating refinishing of gym bleachers. MBC requested that Mr. Parker use proper protection for newly finished floor. Gym Mats — Discussion opened regarding value of removal of gym mats. JTC to be responsible for cost of surface mount mats less the cost of recessed mats. Heat Trace — Opinion from TCI is that the heat trace is not functioning as designed. Issue may be caused by improper installation. TCI requesting that a manufacturer's representative visit site to evaluate. Project Coordinator to inform Plumbing Inspector, Connie Lajoie. Site Li hg ting — Installation of wall packs in Zone 2 has begun. Poles are on site and should be installed by next week. Project Coordinator informed the MBC of a suggestion made by the Electrical Inspector that wall packs be wired to the emergency generator. Question raised as to whether or not wiring is a code issue. Conditions will vary since MHS does not have wall packs. Nurse/Guidance/Home Economics — All areas have been inspected and turned back over to the School Department. Roof Flashing — Estimated completion 1-2 weeks. Project Coordinator commented that the roof would receive a warranty once work is completed. Library — Completion is several weeks away. Woodshop —Concern raised by woodshop teacher regarding slippery floor surface in woodshop. Rich Feeley questioned whether the shop floor is scheduled for abatement. Project Coordinator to verify. Suggestion was made to use mats at various workstations if floor is in good condition. Hardware — Concern raised Re: School Dept. experiencing problems with installation of new hardware. Project Coordinator to identify problem doors and follow up with Contractor. MBC asked Steve Chmura to send JTC a memo on this issue. Schedule — MBC told Steve Chmura that they expected his review of JTC's schedule to be complete by 10-19-99. Ramp Lightin — Project Coordinator reported that the opening for lighting is too large for fixture. Keyes Associates to review installation options. Project Coordinator will pursue immediate progress with JTC. Hot Water Circulation System — Project Coordinator noted concern re: freeze -ups. TCI stated that efficiency is reduced 30% by using glycol in system. South Addition is charged with 20% glycol as recommended by Johnson Controls.
