Contract Deadline — Richard Feeley commented that JTC is beyond their completion date (12-
17-99) for the QMS Project. Chairman Feeley asked that Keyes Assoc. issue appropriate notice
to JTC.
General Update — Paul Letendre reported that inspection walkthroughs of the woodshop, library
and gym areas are complete. Mechanical Inspector rejected some work, however the hand-
written list of issues to be addressed provided by the inspector is illegible. JTC to follow up.
Heat Trace— Contract work is incomplete. Montle Plumbing arranged for an outside company
to perform a Megaohmeter Test to determine cause of failure. Test results were inconclusive.
Steve Chmura questioned the validity of the test. Discussion was that Keyes would issue a letter
to Montle stating that the product was improperly installed. The MBC requested a Technical
Representative be brought in to determine cause of failure.
Elevators — Additional deficiencies were given to JTC. All issues have been addressed. Phone
lines are connected. Still waiting for response from Thyssen regarding date of inspection. Linc
Lynch indicated that Elevator No. 1 must be operable by January 3rd or a cost will be incurred to
home school handicapped student. Estimated cost of $1,500.00 per week. Keyes to issue letter
to JTC.
Woodshop — Industrial Arts teacher has concern about the lack of one emergency shut off switch
for power equipment. Cost to add a master switch is estimated at over $10,000.00. Linc Lynch
to obtain opinion from School Superintendent and forward a written response to the MBC.
Previous woodshop did not have single shut off switch.
Libra —Project Coordinator noted that there was a one-week delay in opening library due to
cancellation of the Fire Inspection. Carpet was installed two weeks ago. Final inspection
scheduled for 12-21-99.
Auditorium — Ceiling is framed and boarded using a Chicago system. Chairman asked that
ceiling be evaluated. Seismic work on stage area is required. Stage Curtain is to remain.
Site Grading — David Young questioned progress of grading. Mr. Young commented that site
work is not reflected on JTC's construction schedule. Much site work is incomplete. JTC
submitted a COP for the yard drain located near stairwell #9.
Roof— Roof work over the paint shed at rear of building is incomplete. Paul Letendre reported
that drain is not working properly. Walter Parker was notified of issue last week. Linc Lynch to
follow up with Walter Parker Re: status. Keyes to instruct JTC to address improperly installed
roof edge overhang at Cafeteria.
Generator — Steve Chmura reported that TCI has not provided the gas piping design needed.
Information was to be received by last Friday. Rich Feeley to contact Dick Battles at TCI.
Chairman expressed comment that the Town should not be expected to continue to pay rental
due to TCI's lack of performance. Mr. Chmura noted that the Electrician does not want to
perform work. MBC requested Keyes to issue directive to Eastern to perform necessary work.
Incomplete Contract Work
• Administration area —David Young asked that the molding at Administration doorway be
addressed during school vacation.

issue letter to Eagle Hardware requesting that they prepare punch list.
• Nursing Suite — Wire reported hanging from ceiling. Project Coordinator to follow up.

Water Main Replacement — Project Coordinator commented that JTC demonstrated a lack of
concern for student's public safety. Clean pipe testing was performed after school was re-
opened.
Manpower — Project Coordinator commented that work is continuing at a very slow pace due to
JTC's limited manpower on site.
Construction Schedule Evaluation — David Young asked that Keyes provide a written schedule
update and confirm in writing that J.T. Callahan is beyond their contract completion date.
Heating — Walter Parker expressed concern regarding substantial increase in fuel costs. Members
commented that the School Dept. should anticipate an increase of approximately I/3 due to
heating additional space. Walter Parker plans to contact Johnson Controls to investigate further.
Dishwasher — Walter Parker noted that an induced draft is continuing to blow out the pilot flame.
TCI to review situation. Paul Letendre to follow up.
School Furnishings — Mr. Parker questioned why Buildings & Grounds items (speed scrubber
and burnisher) were included under furnishings budget. Linc Lynch to notify School Principal
that these items did not fall under construction materials. Should the school require additional
furnishings beyond the budget allocated, those needs would be reconsidered at the end of the
project should funds become available.
