Chairman Feeley noted that the order requested intentionally puts firm with the preliminary highest ranking as the last interview, should the Committee wish to extend the length of interview. DY/MA: Passes 8-0. QUALTERS MIDDLE SCHOOL— 8PM Punch List — Project Coordinator reported that Dick Casali, Keyes Assoc. was on site today to review status of Architectural Punch List. Project Coordinator stated that he is pleased with the progress made in completing outstanding architectural issues. TCI is still waiting for verification from several subcontractors that mechanical, electrical and plumbing punch list work is completed. These responses are currently holding up final inspections. MBC informed Bob Vogel that Michael Callahan had specified an April 22, 2000 date to complete all interior work and a date of May, 15, 2000 to complete the exterior work. Rich Feeley noted to Bob Vogel that a monetized punch list should be ready prior to the March payment requisition. As Built Drawings — Rich Feeley asked if JTC has provided up to date As -Built drawings from subcontractors as required per contract. Project Coordinator indicated that according to Steve Chmura, a limited number have been received. MBC asked that Keyes inquire as to the whereabouts of the outstanding drawings. Heat Trace — Keyes is still waiting for a price from Montle Plumbing to install re -circulation pump. Issue pending. Administration — JTC is to install a sill and adjust window panels at Administration area to resolve unacceptable masonry. Project Coordinator stated that according to Michael Callahan, the work would be performed over April school vacation (4/17/00-4/28/00). MBC asked that school administrators be appropriately notified. Expansion Joint — Project Coordinator is not optimistic that JTC will not be finished with repair by April 22nd as promised. JTC/Completion Dates — Committee asked that Keyes issue a no cost change to JTC to reflect the agreement between Michael Callahan and MBC on 2-29-00. Change Order to include no Liquidated Damages, or Additional General Conditions through 4-22-00 internal work and 5-13- 00 external work. Proposals were also requested for the auditorium chair lift, gym pads, doors it basement, and expansion joint repair. JTC Proiect Administration — Project Coordinator stated that Marc Jaoude, the current Site Manager, is leaving JTC effective this Friday, March 24, 2000. MBC asked Bob Vogel to issue letter to JTC, requesting that Michael Callahan assume these responsibilities at least for the remainder of the Qualters Project. Auditorium • Handicap Lift — During a recent walk-through of the school, the MBC rejected installation of the handicap lift due to the lift creating an obstructed view from front seating area. At the MBC Meeting of 3-14-00, it was determined that Keyes would provide a revised sketch. Discussion was to rotate the lift sideways and create an exit platform, which would be built over one existing staircase. School Business Manager supported removing stairs if necessary. Member Moore stated he researched the issue further with the Barriers Board. Based on his research, the handicap lift would not be required if there is unobstructed access via the side entrances of the stage, however that would require removal of both stairways. Subsequent to this meeting, Member Moore determined that the side entrances to the stage are obstructed and, therefore, the lift is required. MBC directed Keyes to pursue moving left to replace stairway. Punch List Issues — Michael Callahan has agreed to complete unaccepted ceiling painting and floor patching/sealing. Work is still incomplete. • Stage Floor —The auditorium stage floor is being refinished this week by the School Dept. Doors/Zone 2 — Chairman questioned the status of patching to drilled and dimpled doors in Zone 2. Paul Letendre responded that the doors have been touched up, however the repair to door at Administration is still incomplete. Hardware Door issues — Walter Parker expressed disappointment Re: the quality of finish painting. Mr. Parker commented that the push bar of the boiler room door was painted blue. Project Coordinator to review. Eagle Hardware has also agreed to re -key any mismatched keys at end of project for free. Drainage — Discussion opened about roof drainage located at rear of building over paint storage room. David Young commented that the issue must be resolved prior to paving. Chairman suggested that Keyes issue a sketch to install a downspout and scupper. Keyes to investigate other possible options such as a downspout and dry well. Due to current grading outside the Library, David Young asked Paul Letendre to note during the next rainfall, the status of any water running toward the library. Dammed Walkway - During a recent field walk, Committee Members noticed cracking of the walkway at rear of library near storm drain. Quality of installation is unacceptable. JTC will be required to repair. Freezer Loss — Walter Parker reported a subcontractor error in installation of the freezer that caused a recent freezer outage. Ken Gay agreed that the cause of the outage should have been caught by the subcontractor during start up of the unit. Paul Letendre forwarded itemized bill for lost goods to JTC. Gym Chairman questioned status of incomplete work at gym. Project Coordinator noted that vented cove base has been ordered. • Addition Floor — JTC needs to grind flooring at doorway as part of floor preparation per contract. David Young asked Walter Parker to provide JTC with a sample of flooring being installed by the School Dept. so the contractor can determine required depth to grind the floor. • Scoreboard - Jim Liddick noted that the scoreboard is currently operable with an extension cord running to a low wall outlet. Question was raised as to who owns re -wiring of gym scoreboard. The unit should be re -wired behind the scoreboard. Keyes to follow up. Window Conflict — Bob Vogel stated that Cheviot would be on site at Thursday's job site meeting to discuss the various window conflicts. Mr. Vogel will be in attendance. MBC Chairman will try to attend also. Loading dock —Issue was raised that JTC has not performed any work to the loading dock. David Young asked Bob Vogel to investigate. Ramp lighting — Rich Feeley commented that the light fixtures at the front ramp entrance are not fixed in place. Keyes to follow up with JTC. Doorframe — JTC has still not returned missing storefront valued at $2,800.00 to School Dept. Project Coordinator to send a follow up letter to Contractor. Chases/Zone 2 — Chairman questioned who owns chases in Zone 2 classrooms. Keyes to investigate further. Hot Water Pipe/Zone 2 — Chase needs to be built to encase hot water pipe at Zone 2. Discussion was that the School Dept. would install chases. David Young recommended using a more durable material than tin. Jim Liddick suggested using metal or a concrete coating. MANSFIELD HIGH SCHOOL Added Insulation — TCI has determined that added insulation is not required for sprinkler pipe running along West Addition provided that pipe is completely encased and sealed from drafts. Roof Walkways — Roofer has indicated that he carried minimal pads. Appears additional pads not in specification. Instructed Paul Letendre to coordinate maximum use of pads to be provided. Science Lab Sinks — Issue re: installation of undersized sinks in Science Lab. Walter Parker found a local distributor who stocks the correct size needed at a lower cost than offered by JTC. A total of 18 newly installed cup sinks are to be removed. Paul Letendre to provide information to JTC for review. Discussion was to have installation of plumbing and carpentry performed on a Time and Material basis. MHS/Administration Concerns - John Moretti was in attendance to discuss the following issues with the Committee members: • School Furnishings - The original amount allocated for school furnishings budget under the School Project is $200K. To date $57K has used toward technology and most of the remaining for furniture related expenses. Due to future programming needs, Mr. Moretti asked the MBC to consider increasing the School Furnishings budget by $35K (in addition to original $200K furnishings budget) to purchase additional computer technology at MHS. Rich Feeley questioned why the cost for wiring NMS was the same as QMS when the area was less extensive. Linc Lynch responded that MHS required more costly equipment due to the addition of more head end rooms. MBC to consider in future. Proposed Changes to Girls/Boys Locker Room — Mr. Moretti indicated that although the current plans did receive approval by the previous school administration staff, some discrepancies were recently noted between the girls and boys facilities that could be subject to violation of Chapter 9 laws. Based on the drawings, the boy's locker room has more team rooms. The girl's room should have one toilet added in addition to more team rooms. The School Dept would like to move forward to have Wallace Floyd prepare a master plan proposal. Mr. Moretti commented that the School Dept. has authorized paying for the added architectural costs for the redesign out of the school's operating budget. Rich Feeley pointed out that WFDG is a sub -consultant and that they would need to go through Keyes. Bob Vogel responded that he did not oppose the School Dept. speaking with Wallace Floyd directly. MBC Chairman requested that the School Dept. allow the Project Coordinator to be involved with the School Dept. plans. Paul Letendre noted that JTC plans to perform locker room work in the summer. Mr. Moretti suggested that the School Department paint the lockers at MHS and MBC take credit from JTC. MBC to pursue and direct JTC to issue credit. SBAB Update — John Moretti noted that SBAB has approved reimbursement of the proposal for new recreational fields to be constructed behind QMS/MHS. The SBAB determined that the proposal for a new gym would not be approved for reimbursement based on the need being over and above the scope of the original project. Town would have to reapply for this facility. MBC expressed concern that the amount specified by the School Dept. would not be sufficient to cover the added cost of building the fields. INVOICES Mini Warehouse Inc. MOTION to recommend payment to Mini Warehouse in the amount of $80.00 for trailer storage rental for the month of March. DY/JL: Passes 5-0 Meeting adjourned at 10:30 PM.
