MANSFIELD HIGH SCHOOL
Proposed changes Girls/Boys Locker Room changes — The conceptual design for renovations to
the Girl's and Boy's Locker Rooms as requested by the School Department is complete. Sue
Michael -Brown estimated the total fees incurred by WFDG to date for conceptual design is
approximately $3,000. The Architectural fee for revising the appropriate drawings and
coordination with engineering is $15,190.00. The engineering fee to provide Mechanical and
Electrical is a not to exceed amount of $12,600.00. Ms. Brown noted that the Contractor's cost
estimate is expected by end of this week. MBC will forward a complete proposal packet to the
School Dept. for evaluation. David Young reiterated that the original drawings were approved
by the School Dept., prior to the start of the project. MBC questioned various School Dept.
changes at that time, including elimination of a toilet in the girl's locker room. MBC opinion is
that the proposed changes to girls/boys locker rooms are cost prohibitive at this time.
Outstanding Fire Inspection Invoices — A previous agreement was made with JTC that the Fire
Dept. would perform inspections during regular working hours with the understanding if they
needed to respond to a call, the inspection would be interrupted and continued later. On a few
occasions Michael Callahan had requested that inspections occur within a specific time frame
and had agreed to incur the cost of overtime. Sue Michael Brown commented that JTC is now
disputing (4) outstanding invoices for fire inspections totaling $368.00, and has submitted a
change order proposal for this amount. The MBC rejected the Change Order Proposal noting
that Michael Callahan was aware of the terms of inspection fees and had agreed to pay the
overtime last December. Wallace Floyd to return rejected proposal to JTC.

Roof Pads — Wallace Floyd issued a bulletin regarding installation of additional roof pads. It
was determined that the Town does not own pads indicated for walkways per specs. WFDG to
obtain Change Order Proposal to install pads at the service side of each roof top unit.
Door Holders — Sue Michael Brown reported that 2 magnetic door holders were stolen. JTC has
agreed to replace missing holders (at no cost to the owner) and install remaining with non -
removable screws.
Soffits — Sue Michael Brown commented that soffits need to be built to encase pipes and conduit
in existing building.
Elevator — Walter Parker stressed the need for completion of elevator as soon as possible.
Project Coordinator opinion is that the remaining work would take about one week.
Sprinkler/Auditorium — Notes on demo drawings show that the ceiling is to be removed to
( facilitate installation of new sprinkler system. The auditorium ceiling work includes a 5000
square foot area. JTC is proposing to offer the Town an overall credit of $10K to omit ceiling
demolition. Sue Michael Brown commented that omission of the ceiling work would enhance
JTC's construction schedule and that the existing ceiling is superior quality to the new ceiling
planned for installation. Rich Feeley suggested $15K for ceiling work, but after further
discussion, it was agreed that the $10K offered by JTC was a fair value. Wallace Floyd to ask
JTC to submit a written proposal. JTC will incur a $5K increase in sprinkler costs and $ l0K
above ceiling staging cost if done this way.
Light Fixtures/Auditorium - Ms. Brown confirmed that the designer has approved keeping new
light fixtures at existing locations.
Schedule Evaluation — Updated construction schedule for the high school project was not
provided. Sue Michael Brown confirmed that Release of Liens were submitted to WFDG.

approval.

approval.
MOTION to recommend JTC Application for Payment #15 in the amount of $118,889.27
for work performed during the month of March. DY/JL: Passes 4-0.
Painting Locker — Paint subcontractor was disputing painting lockers. Sue Michael Brown
pointed out that JTC owns painting lockers per specs. It was previously agreed that the Town
would take a credit for not painting lockers and the School Dept. would complete the work.
Stair Floor Mats — Committee directed Wallace Floyd to request a credit proposal for deleting
two roll -up aluminum linked -tread floor mats in the East and West wings, Stair No. 5 and Stair
No. 6.
Project Administration — Paul Letendre informed the Committee of plans to pursue additional
work opportunities to commence on or about 8-1-00. Mr. Letendre asked for MBC's support.
The MBC pledged that support, but also indicated to Mr. Letendre that they wanted him around
until Fall 2000 to see through the end of the QMS and MHS Projects.
