Direct Payment Request — Steven MacCaffrie, Construction Consulting expressed frustration regarding JTC's non-payment in the amount of $3,247.00. Mr. MacCaffrie noted that three punch list items recently reported open, are now complete. Mr. MacCaffrie stated that no monies were paid to Construction Consulting from JTC's last QMS requisition. Chairman to contact Michael Callahan to follow up on status of payment. MANSFIELD HIGH SCHOOL Construction Schedule — A revised construction schedule was prepared by JTC as a result of a 6- 8-00 meeting with School Administration. David Young noted that the revised schedule still extends beyond contract date. At this time, School Dept. does not accept timeframe designated for occupancy of Administration, Guidance or classrooms. MBC rejects revised Construction Schedule as submitted. Wallace Floyd to notify JTC. Project Coordinator commented that School Dept. should be more realistic in the time constraints allotted to Contractor to complete work. MBC to issue letter to School Dept. asking them to prioritize essential areas needed as well as the number of non-essential classrooms. Delays - JTC has submitted request for 2 -month extension to schedule for consideration. JTC has not provided an approved Project Schedule. Chairman noted a couple areas that may have caused some delay should be more than balanced out by other areas that JTC began early. Paul Letendre noted that JTC could not occupy 5 classrooms until school's out. Project Coordinator made a suggestion to leave existing ceiling grid at Administration to enhance project schedule. David Young asked Paul Letendre and Walter Parker to review existing condition and respond. Doors — Sue Michael -Brown reported an issue with existing wood door frames that are not plum or square. Per contract approximately 15 existing wood doors are scheduled to be replaced with metal doors. Due to the condition of existing door frames contractor can not install rotund hinges with new doors as specified. WFDG to investigate further. Possible C.O.P. anticipated for additional work necessary to properly install. Band/Music Rooms — Per plans JTC owns installation of new ceiling in Band and Music Rooms at a lower level (9 ft.) than current height. Sue Michael Brown reported that someone from the high school staff approached the Contractor and asked him not to install as shown on the / drawings. Staff member wants ceiling height to remain as high as possible. David Young noted t that the change request did not follow proper protocol (via School Administration Office) as directed by School Superintendent. MBC to send letter to School Administration for clarification as to whether to keep existing ceiling or replace with new ceiling per contract. New sprinkler is to be located on wall. MBC asked Walter Parker to evaluate condition of existing ceiling and come back with recommendation. Washer/DEyeC — Sue Michael Brown noted that the missing back up (signed time slips) for wiring washer and dryer were found. Project Coordinator to verify. COP#190 Cage cover over new exit signs at gym - $645.00. Status: Approved as recommended by WGDG. Locker Room Changes/Design Phase Sue Michael Brown noted that MBC could expect the finished drawings no later than end of June. Currently waiting for TCI to finish with their portion of the drawings. Discussion re: School Dept.'s request to add five lockable doors. Ms. Brown responded that having locking doors could be a fire safety issue. Wallace Floyd to verify code requirements and issue final drawing to MBC for signature approval by School Department. Asbestos Curtain/fusible link — Clarification requested by Project Coordinator re: removal of asbestos curtain in Auditorium. Per code asbestos fusible link curtain at auditorium stage is to remain in place in addition to new sprinkler system. Gym Bleachers — Suggestion was made on site by JTC to replace existing segmented bleachers with non -segmented bleachers. Lincoln Lynch and Walter Parker supported suggestion noting existing gym door separators are inoperable and too costly to repair. Future needs to separate gym space could be resolved by installation of curtain dividers at a later date. Non -segmented bleachers are less costly to purchase. Chairman asked Walter Parker to obtain written direction from School Dept. prior to purchase of non -segmented bleachers. Wallace Floyd to issue bulletin to JTC requesting reasonable credit for omitting segmented bleachers if that is ultimate direction. QUALTERS MIDDLE SCHOOL Punch List Update MBC received a monetized punch list from Keyes. MBC asked Project Coordinator to verify that the punch list submitted by Keyes is inclusive of previous punch list items. Chairman asked Paul Letendre to walk site at QMS to verify work performed and review monetary values assigned for reasonable and fair value prior to 6-17-00. Keyes has not provided final monetized list to JTC. Kiln — Per plans JTC owns relocation of (1) kiln from 1'` Floor to 2nd Floor Art Room and venting from 2❑d floor. School Principal verified their plan to keep Art Room and location of Kiln on 1" Floor. Venting is not owned in contract from first floor art room. JTC to submit a cost proposal to core hole through floor. Issue pending. Glass Block Panels — Issue raised by Walter Parker re: two glass block panels not removed per contract. Chairman commented that the two panels are located over a stairwell above ceiling and do not provide any light source. If removed at this point, Town would incur significant cost for abatement of glass block. Discussion was that JTC turn over new replacement window to School Dept. and leave existing glass block in place. Vented Cove Base - Chairman noted to Buildings & Grounds Director that COP#313 referencing Vented Cove Base is owned by JTC. Chairman instructed Walter Parker not to proceed with any proposals or purchases. Walk Through — Committee scheduled a walk through for Saturday, June 17 at 8:00 AM to review final punch list items.
