MANSFIELD HIGH SCHOOL
General Update:
Chorus Room — Sue Michael Brown reported that the room is complete with the exception of
floor finish. Walter Parker thought that Contractor owns washing and wax. Project Coordinator
stated that per spec. the Contractor owns broom finish only. David Young asked that a Punch
List be generated prior to room being turned over.
Band Room — Project Coordinator reported that turn over of the Band Room is about one week
behind schedule.
Gymnasium — Sue Michael Brown noted that the Gymnasium work is next on schedule to be
performed. Walter Parker stressed that the School Dept. needs to have gym area available to use
as soon as possible due to various Fall and Winter programs. Project Coordinator commented
that response re: seismic work will determine timeframe to complete work.
Auditorium — Project Coordinator to verify if sketch was issued by TCI to provide power to lift.
Seismic — Contract includes seismic work in Auditorium and Gym, but does not include
demolition or protection of ceiling. Project Coordinator is working with JTC to generate seismic
calculations that could eliminate additional demolition. Response should be ready by next
Tuesday (9-26-00). Paul Letendre to forward information to WFDG. Sue Michael Brown will
hopefully be able to issue letter to Bruce Davies, Structural Engineer, confirming that work is
less that 50% of building renovation. Based on letter from WFDG, Bruce Davies would verify
whether seismic work is required and forward letter to Nick Riccio, Building Inspector.
Bathroom Toilets/Second Floor — Paul Letendre spoke with Building Inspector and reported that
request for waiver for handicap work was denied. Sue Michael Brown still need to issue sketch
to JTC and request that a cost proposal be submitted to meet handicap needs.
Locker Rooms Changes:
• Increase in Scope - Sue Michael Brown reported that the interim handicap work in locker
room needs to be more extensive than originally planned. Building Inspector requires that
both girl's and boy's locker rooms are made to meet code requirements now vs. completing
work with locker room renovations in Spring, 2001. Although no handicapped students are
enrolled at this time, Temporary Occupancy Permit will not be issued until this work is
complete.
• Delay Impact - Sue Michael Brown commented that a stop work order had already been
issued and that JTC could claim a delay for work not performed in this area, even though
they have other areas to work. David Young noted that per Michael Callahan, most materials
have been purchased and are on site. JTC would need to prove that manpower was affected
to pursue cost for delays regarding labor.
• Directive from MBC - Due to the reduced value of credit that would remain after
handicapped issues are addressed, the MBC/School Dept. unanimously agreed to move
forward to complete as much contract work as possible. WFDG to track cost of additional
hours to coordinate the following work:

30 gym lockers is beige and not green per revised shop drawing. Contractor has offered to
provide additional lockers in lieu of correcting color. School Dept agreed to accept additional
lockers. School Dept. will handle correcting color of paint internally. Sue Michael Brown to
verify how many lockers and style that would be provided.
Landscape — Several areas of work have been rejected. Landscape Architect was on site and
submitted Punch List to MBC. MBC asked WFDG to send letter to JTC to correct excessive
weeds throughout lawn. Committee asked Sue Michael Brown to advise JTC, that use of
pesticides and herbicides is prohibited on school grounds, and that the new grass planting work is
rejected. Contractor needs to clean hydro -seed material from light fixtures and walkway. All
