Gym Bleachers — Ken Gay noted comment from a subcontractor on site that brackets needed to mount bleachers to wall have not arrived and that gym would not be ready before Thanksgiving. Punch List — Paul Letendre commented that he has not received any requests for re- inspection of work since Punch List was given to Contractor. Project Coordinator to contact JTC for update of completed Punch List work. Authorization of T&M — Discussion that since the Project Coordinator's schedule was recently reduced, Paul Letendre may not be on site to sign work time slips when needed. Rich Feeley asked Walter Parker to assist the MBC by signing work time slips as necessary (at no cost to the project). Mr. Parker's signature on time slips is meant to verify time only and does not constitute approval to perform any work related to the MHS Renovation Project. MBC agreed to forward notice to JTC that if Mr. Parker is expected to sign slips, he must be given prior notification of T&M work to be performed. Linc Lynch and John Moretti, School Superintendent were informed of this agreement and have no objections. Emergenc LiLighting — Walter Parker questioned whether additional exterior door lighting is required to meet building code requirements. Discussion was that additional lighting is not required unless local inspector indicates otherwise. Handicap Walk at Front Entrance — Sue Michael Brown stated that the current egress to. high school having a straight walk ramp from front entrance and directing handicapped to use curved ramp is unacceptable by Independent Living Associates. Ms. Brown indicated that construction of a handicap walkway from the front door is still required to meet "equal" access requirements to building. Sue Michael Brown to investigate the need to construct a second walkway with the Building Inspector. Kitchen Requests • Added Electrical Request made by School Dept to add additional outlets in kitchen serving area. Steve Chmura noted that the Contractor does not want to assume this extra work. MBC advised Walter Parker to coordinate installation of outlets. • Relocate exhaust hood - School Dept. has already relocated hood. Magnetic Door holder Openers — Issue raised about School Dept's request to repair damage to magnetic door holder openers. Contractor has replaced previously installed door openers due to vandalism and will not replace again due to repeated damage. MBC asked School Dept. to handle repair. Masonry at Guidance — Installation of masonry in -fill at Guidance is incomplete. JTC is having difficulty getting their subcontractor (Costa Brothers) on site to complete contract work. School Dept. suggested possibility of using'a Specialty Fields Company to design and prepare fields. School Dept. as General Contractor — Linc Lynch suggested School Building and Grounds Director coordinate trades as a means of cost savings. MBC advised that the workload involved would be a tremendous burden on top of Mr. Parker's school responsibilities and existing responsibilities of the custodial staff. Due to the type of work involved, coordination between Architect and trades is critical. The MBC unanimously recommended a General Contractor be utilized to coordinate construction of the locker room changes and track and fields renovation work. In -House Assistance - MBC and School Dept. opinion is that DPW manpower would be overburdened to assume the extensive work required for MHS Track/Fields at this time, due to several DPW projects currently in progress. • Bid Requirements — The Town policy requires sealed public bid and contract for any anticipated billing over $25,000. • Priority Needs — Due to the amount of estimated funding available to complete all aspects of this Project (Locker Rooms, MHS Track/Field, and East Street Fields), MBC asked that the School Dept prioritize areas to be completed. INVOICES Letendre Company — MHS MOTION to recommend payment to Paul Letendre, Project Coordinator in the amount of $812.00 for services provided at Mansfield High School during the week ending October 28, 2000 and November 4, 2000.
