Board of Trustees Meeting - May 6, 2017
Attendance: Nancy Breef-Pili, Marianne Mackie, Dana Hourigan, Leonard Epstein and
Director Catherine Coyne. Nancy convened the meeting at 8:15 a.m.
Secretary's report. Minutes of the March 25 meeting were reviewed and approved.
Treasurer's report. The report of April 30 was reviewed and approved. The board
discussed soliciting additional banks for program contributions. The board approved $500 for
additional adult summer programs.
Librarian's reports. The librarians' reports were reviewed and highlights discussed.
Mobile hot spots. The devices are proving very popular and are in constant circulation. The
Friends have offered to continue funding, $64/month. The board decided to maintain the current no
holds policy on the devices.
Staff. Catherine will announce to the staff the open Library Technician position to replace
Nancy Holske.
Five Year Plan. Progress continues, with Catherine's focus on past surveys and various
categories including staff, the library's collection, physical plant, etc.
Libraiv Reads. Catherine's review of Kate Moore's Radium Girls was published in the May
issue. Ms. Moore will be presenting a program at the library today.
OLD BUSINESS
RFID checkout and security s, stem. Deliveries of equipment began on May 2. The board
discussed options for the tagging project, focusing on soliciting volunteers from various segments
of the Mansfield community. Timing is important and while June would be ideal because of the
lower circulation, there is insufficient time to prepare for the project.
Budget. The library's request for an additional part time librarian, $18,000, has been
rejected.
Goals update. Catherine updated the board on her performance goals progress.
NEW BUSINESS
Sails mobile auu. Amy Rosa will be part of a focus group being formed to evaluate Sails'
new mobile app.
Next meeting. May 6, 2017. The meeting was adjourned at 10:05 a.m.
