HomeMy WebLinkAboutPlanning 12/21/1970The Mansfield Planning Board met at the Attleboro Trust Company
on December 219 1970 in the meeting room.
Present: Town Planner Maurer, Chairman Mendes, Clerk Latham and
Planners: Wojtkiewicz, Ci_nelli, MacFarlane, Nelson and Wellington.
Meeting called to order at 7:30 PM.
Mr. William Chandler from the Southeastern Regional Planning and
Economic Development District met with the Board. He advised the
Board of the status of the elements of the Comprehensive Planning
Program. Discussion was held on eliminating the Market Value Study
as this element would be impossible to complete due to the loss
of the Assessor's records in the burning of the Town Ball.
Mr. Chandler advised the Board that the Region would be willing to
have the 701 Contract amended so that it would be possible for them
to assist in any way due to the burning of the `.Gown Hall. Town
Planner Maurer advised Mr. Chandler that the Board of Selectmen
had asked his help in planning for a new Town Hall. Motion by
Planner Nelson seconded by Planner MacFarlane to terminate the
Market Value Study at this point, all in favor.
At 8:05 PM Chairman Mendes called the Hearing to order. Hearing
adjourned at 10:05 PM.
Town Planner Maurer advised the Board the status of the Planning
{ Board records from the fire. He told the Board that the plans and
K linens stored in the closed are damaged from smoke and water, that
tables and desks were under water and that plans were floating.
The bottom three drawers of the file cabinets were under water
and the tape recorder was damaged from water. Library books
and law books .in the book shelf were badly damaged from water.
The microfilming was in the closet and there was some water
damage. Motion by Planner Nelson seconded. by Planner Wellington
to include in Town Meeting and article for ;x;700 to purchase
microfilm reader --printer, all in favor. Letter will be sena; to
Town Clerk asking her to hold. 0350 already appropriated for a
reader„
Planning Board will meet with Board of Selectmen on December 23 to
discuss plans for new Town Hall..
Motion by Planner Ci_nelli seconded by Planner Nelson to adjourn,
Town Planner Maurer advised the Board that they still had to
discuss apartment zoning for 1971, as they have an open article
with the Board. of Selectmen for Town Meeting, and he d-idn Q know
how much .longer it would be held open. Chairman Mendes asked
for a ;show of hands. Four were opposed.
Meeting adjourned at 10:35 PM.
