The Mansfield Planning Board met at the Mansfield Town Hall on Monday,
June 22, 1970.
Present: Chairman Mendes, and Planners Nelson, Wellington, Macfarlane, and
Cinelli.
Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM.
The Board met with Bill Chandler of the Southeastern Regional Planning and.
Economic Development District and Henry Ritzer of Soil. Conservation Service
to review the proposed 701 Program scope of services. Mr. Ritzer went
over the Soil Conservation Service component of the program and upon motion
by Planner Nelson seconded by Planner MacFarlane it was voted to add two
extra interpretive maps to the proposal at a cost of about $$108 each.
Upon motion by Planner Cinelli seconded by Planner Nelson it was voted to
accept the proposed scope of services for the program.
Motion by Planner Cinelli, seconded by Planner Nelson for executive session
to discuss the appointment and hiring of the Town Planner.
Following the executive session the Board met with Attorney James Kelly
and Alan Willis to discuss action previously taken on a topo map for a
gravel. application. It was decided to meet with Mr. Willis and engineer
Ralph Maloon at 9:00 AM on Thursday to review the plan in the fi.el.d.
The Board met with representatives of Hoerner -Waldorf to review preliminary
site and building plans for the proposed box factory in Mansfield Industrial
Park. It was stated that the plant would be approximately 160,000 square
feet in area, the height varying from 21 to 28 feet, with a 120 foot set
back. There will_ be a 300,000 gallon emergency water reservoir for fire-
fighting and a number of in -plant fire stations and sprinkler systems.
The cyclone separator will be about 700 feet back from the road and
30 feet above the plant roof at its highest point. The roof drains and
catch basins will tie into the drainage system of the park. There will
be a sewage pre-treatment tank to lower the BOD and prevent dump loading
of the sewer system. Hoerner -Waldorf will deal directly with the Building
Inspector and Town Manager and keep us informed by submitting their final
site plans to us.
Planner Nelson mentioned that he had given tentative permission to Cabot,
Cabot, and Forbes to move excess material from their roadway to another
part of the park. The Board agreed that this was proper as long as the
material was not removed from their property prior to approval of a
definitive plan.
Motion by Planner MacFarlane, ,seconded by Planner Cinelli to adjourn, all
in favor.
Meeting adjourned at 10:10 PM.
