Green Acres had been circulated to the department heads and no comments

L the State regarding the relocation of Route 140.

8. Board met with David Bryant to discuss the environmental impact statement
for interstate route 495 and relocated state route 140. Mr. Bryant noted
his concern with the report was that local traffic counts were not adequately
shownndiscussed and it would be difficult to determine the impact of the
traffic projected from the highway on the local circulation system. He
noted that the Downtown Traffic Study Committee had requested this information
when they were preparing their report.
He felt that consideration should be given to how the projected traffic will
affect the local system as this may necessitate widening of local streets,
changing of zoning, etc. The Planning Director noted that the Department
of Public Works is in the process of preparing a contract with Tibbetts,
Abbott, McCarthy and Straton to prepare local circulation plans under the
Fedexal Urban Systems Program. The federal government will pay for the
i•:i<kocal improvements and the town will be responsible for land acquisition costs.
9. Board discussed the environmental impact statement for interstate route 495
and relocated state route 140. It was the consensus of the Board to have the
Planning Director draft a letter to the Department of Public Works for the
Board to sign next week stating that the Board is in favor of the construction
of route 25 and recommend that the project proceed immediately.
Clerk Grant noted that he was .ni:favor of the construction of route 25 but not 140
as relocated. It was the consensus of the Board to also write a letter to the
Board of Selectmen advising them that consideration should be given to the
location of utilities under proposed Route 25.
