Planner Grant noted the Board should consider allowing present operators to annex property adjoining their present pits to use for gravel removal so they wouldn't be thrown out of business if the amendment passed. Planner Mahana stated it wasn't his intention to put present operators out of business, but to stop any future operations. Motion: To delete Commercial gravel removal from Section V -G Earth Removal, Paragraph 3 - C, subsections 1 through 13 from the Zoning By-law and reword other sections of the By-law to prevent gravel removal operations being granted as "Use Variances" by the Board of Appeals. Karl Clemmey questioned the acceptance of Forbes Boulevard where the Telephone Company has just cut across the street to install lines and wondered who is responsible for the restoration. Planning Director Maurer informed Mr. Clemmey the Board of Selectmen hold a bond from the Telephone Company and the street has to be restored to their satisfaction before the bond is released. Mr. Clemmey also noted that the current gravel restriction: of staying 6 ft. above the water table would leave the land in good condition for subdivisions, because current Board of Health regulations only require 4 ft. above the water table for house lots. 11) The date of the next meeting was set for Monday, January 22, 1979 at 7:30 P.M. to discuss Wetland Mapping with Mr. Michael Whalen. 12) Meeting adjourned at 9:50 P.
