and used automobiles >which ,would be non -conforming in a Residence A Zone.
No one.was present to discuss the application with the Board, and it was
noted that a.letter inviting them to be present while the Board discussed
their application had been sent and no response was received. The 'Board
compared their previous application that had been withdrawn by the applicant
after their first Board of Appeals hearing. It was noted that the area is
across the river from the Town Hall.

application for an oversize overhanging sign at Dick's Carpets, Etc. Inc.
at, 284 North Main St. Mr. Lewis noted it is a hardship because of the
one way traffic system and his present sign is not visible to people
coming off Route 106 into the center of Town. He stated .he has an existing
sign which is 3' x 4' and he intends, to leave that sign up. He noted that
the proposed sign is a standard Congoleum sign throughout the country.

It was noted by.Board members that the Town has made a commitment to the
downtown area on the size of signs to be allowed. Mr. Lewis noted that
he has made a commitment to the Town in the last ten ,years and has made
a conscious decision to stay in the center of Town rather than move to
another location. He noted he has had people complain they,; can't find
the store. It was suggested that the sign would do more good if was
freestanding at the rear of the lot so people coming down 'Old Colony Way
could see it.
Motion: To -recommend.that the Board ,of Appeals deny the variance requested
by Richard Lewis for an oversize sign at 284 North Main Street.
(Seifert - Brugliers, all in favor) VOTED
*Planner White entered the meeting at this time.
8) Mr. Ronald Bonvie appeared before the .Board to discuss Wind Chime Acres
Subdivision. Planner Brugliera left the meeting during the discussion.
Mr. Bonvie noted that the whole road had to be redesigned because of
adding the drainage out to Ware St. All the calculations had to be redone.
By running the drain gine out to Ware Street they .are picking up drainage,
all the way to the airport.
Planner Genatossio asked if they were planning to use the crushed stone
i. in the drainage ditches. Mr, Bonvie noted thhad discussed trap rock
which would be better than crushed stone.
Mr. Bonvie told the Board if GHR Engineering feels they need the
retention area they will put it in, but if not they won't because he
doesn't want to disturb the swamp area if he doesn't have to.
Chairman Flynn read the letter from Mike Wayland of the Soil Conservation
Service concerning the on-site soil samples taken on Wind Chime Acres.
The letter stated that they don't see a problem with ;Wind Chime Acres,
but do see a problem in the future with using the maps for subdivision
and zoning regulations. He stated that all 'areas should be_field .checked
before making any determination, because the map is ,not accurate, Mr.
Bonvie pointed out on his plan where there will be a problem, but noted
that he still feels ;the lots are buildable. ''Mr. Bonvie explained to the
Board what Mr. Wayland had told him about the soil types and how to tell
the different ones.
Mr. Bonvie requested a three week extension from the Board for their decision
on Wind Chime Acres. The extension would run from July 9, 1980 to July 30th.
Mr. Bonvie noted that he was sure there would have to be changes on his plan
in accordance with the report from GHR Engineering and his engineer would
need the time to.'make them.

11) Mrs. Margot Jellinek reminded :the Board that at the Ash Gravel removal
public hearing she had asked to have a study done, paid by the owners,
because the area is in an aquifer on how the removal operation will ;affect
f the aquifer. She stated the Board should have an opinion from the Town
Engineer at public hearings. She also noted that the lot that Old Colony
Motors wants to use is located in the flood flow and .therefore, they
couldn't put a building on it.
12) The date for the next meeting was set for July 9, 1980 at 7:30 P. M.
13) Planner Genatossio told the Board that she has a copy of Ground Water

Women Voters article on pond development at Town Meeting.
