1.Call to order

2.Review & approve minutes from previous meeting - approved

Litter Prevention and Cleanup 7:45-8:15
3.GMC kickoff, roles and responsibilities — Litter Index — March 29 n 9am tentative

a.Folk festival, school vacation — we are postponing the Clean-up to May 3
b.Community groups
c.Tee shirts - $3.55 cost in 2013 - $3.65 per shirt this year — Tropical Blue (with Black Writing?)
4.Anti-littering signs - Committee discussed this at a meeting years ago — item was brought up again
to decide whether or not this would be a good idea and something we should pursue.
Beautification & Community Greening: 8:15-8:45
1.Guerrini donation (UPS tree planting grant $5000) — Guerrini has agreed to donate —$500 worth of
plants and labor — suggest Guerrini does the Barrows lot on May 3.
2.Trash Can Be Beautiful — what do we want to do with the old barrels, do we need new ones (we
need to assess the condition of the current ones) do we want to add some possibly with a different
theme (no)
3.Flower Barrels - postponed
4.Library sign — The electronic sign was for $8,000 - $2,000 for the regular sign (uninstalled) -
$4,000 (installed) — This committee contacted the library director who did not wish to have an
electric sign — we have $1500 grant for this - so how do we get the other $500? Neil is going to
contact the Town Manager to see about our voting to move on with the $2,000 sign with the town
kicking in the balance.
5.North Common - postponed
6.Route 106/140 tree planting — David is going to reach out to Mass Dot District 5
7. Sidewalks —Neil is going to ask about the sidewalk plan for the town.
Waste Reduction & Recycling 8:45-9:00
7.Grant opportunity for outside bins- there is a grant request in — we are awaiting word back on this
8.School recycling update — Neil continues to work with the principal High School
How can we better educate the town on recycling material — Press release? Campaign? Questionnaire
online? Something at Family Fun night? Contact Waste Management to join a meeting in the
future? Waste Management at Family Fun night or KMB clean-up?
Administration: 9:00-9:15
9.Treasurer's report - Account has $4151 — includes $1500 grant — We owe Guerrini $3300 — so
currently we are at (-$600)
10.2014 fundraising -- We have started getting donations back — maybe about $2000 collected so
far
I I .Grant opportunities — Lowe's is coming up -
Communications & PR: 9:15-9:30
12.KAB national conference update —Neil went to North Carolina — It was good — Neil is working
toward starting Keep Massachusetts Beautiful — Neil paid out of pocket for some of the expense. We
discussed as a group reimbursing him for this amount (roughly $275) if we have money available in
the future. 8 voted in favor of this.
13.Should we order more bags or golf shirts? Golf shirts (not at this point) Magnets — maybe -
Patricia going to check into price
14.Website and social media updates - KAB won social media post of the week
15.Thank you notes? We got new ones printed — they look nice.
