The meeting was called to order at 6:03 PM. 2. Minutes of the Recreation Commission Meeting from February 22, 2016. Motion: By Mitch Bregnard to approve the Recreation Commission Meeting minutes from February 22, 2016. Seconded by Linda McCabe. Motion passes, 3-0-2. 3. Visitors: -At 6:30p Mark Cook came to discuss the Skate Park fence. Sherri Gurnon asked if he could remove the entire fence. Mark suggested that they leave the side that faces the football field up so that it keeps footballs out of the skate park. That one side can be taken down at a later time if there is a change of mind. -Sherri asked Mark if there has been a thought about putting lights in at Memorial Park so that there can be night games as there have been requests. Mark said that there is a structural issue as the new lights they put in or even existing lights have to pass a "wind load". The current lights there can be turned on, but wouldn't pass the "wind load" test. They also don't give enough light. It is too costly to put in new lighting at Memorial Park at this time. -Sherri asked for an update on the Plymouth Street kickball wall. There have been disgruntled coaches/players saying that they can't use it, and they have lost a field as there is some field construction there. The coaches feel it is preventing them using one of the fields. Kevin Kemp stated that MYS's season is underway and if they have learned to play without the field now, they can wait until the fall season when the field/grass around the kickball wall will be done. -Sherri brought up the possibility of having an Eagle Scout redo the information sign by the police station. Mark said that there would be the possibility of having the Eagle Scout do some stonework for a temporary sign if we wanted, but felt repairing the existing sign would not work due to its age and a tree blocking it. 4. Ed Westhaver suggested that maybe rewording the scholarship requirements might attract more applicants. It was decided that if the applicant was going into any type of Parks and Recreation related field, including Conservation and Environmental Studies, they would have priority over others applying. Max Leard will be studying Construction Management, but has volunteered with the Parks and Recreation in the past. -Motion by: Mitch Bregnard to change the wording of the scholarship to encourage more applicants.
