Librarians' reports. The librarians' reports for February reviewed and highlights
discussed. Catherine discussed highlights of the recent PLA meeting in Indianapolis.
OLD BUSINESS
Children's room. The shelving company will be in the library on Monday, March 31 to
move and adjust all of the existing shelving to make room for the new units to be added.
Salary schedules. Catherine presented her review of all staff members' compensation vis-
a-vis the salary schedule. The board approved Catherine's plan to upgrade Cassie Ormonde's title
to Assistant Library Director and raise her salary two steps, (one now and the second on July 1) in
recognition of the increased duties and responsibilities she has undertaken since joining the staff in
August, 2012. The adjustment has been approved by the Town Manager, subject to the overall
constraints of the salary budget. Kitty Schacht will be reducing her schedule to 29 hours/week,
possibly as early as May.
NEW BUSINESS
Library card applications. Catherine is planning to use an updated application which will
incorporate an internet permission section for parents signing on behalf of children under thirteen
years old. Her current thinking is to shred the applications after cards have been issued. Blank
applications will be made available to schools which could be especially helpful for teenagers
Family cards. Mansfield's present policy is to block families if one member is seriously
delinquent. The board approved raising the delinquency requirement to $100 prior to suspending all
cards for a family.
DVD thefts. Newer adult DVDs are being returned to security cases in the wake of
increasing thefts. The library is currently using three different security case systems which is
cumbersome. Catherine visited several vendors at PLA and will be receiving a new sample system
which may allow the library to simplify the process in the future.
Next meeting. May 3. The meeting was adjourned at 0„30-a4Jm.
