1. The meeting was called to order at 6:04pm.''
2. Minutes of the Recreation Commission Meeting from April 25, 2017.
Motion: By Mike Weber to approve the Recreation Commission Meeting Minutes
from April 18, 2017. Seconded by Ed Westhaver. Motion passes, 3-0.
3. Questions and Comments:
Sherri thanked all the Commissioners who volunteered for the Fishing Derby on May 13.
4. Visitors:
-At 6:05pm, Larry Silver, MYS, came in to discuss his priority list and meeting notes he had
regarding the Plymouth Street fields/facility. He also wanted to ask for our help in trying to
control the speeding in the parking lot area through speed bumps, more police presenc r
more signs. Sherri said she would contact the police to meet with them regardin a issue.
-At 6:25pm, Jen Morris, Erin Botelho, Jenn Higgins and Megan Gonzalez Worted on the
progress the group has made to date with the playground and how the groundbreaking went.
5. Facility Requests: . �r
-QMS Field Day- Memorial Park, Junel5& 16, 7:00a -2:00p
6. Old Business:
-Open Space and Recreation Plan -workshop to be scheduled.
-Julia Romano, Mansfield High School, was awarded the Parks and Recreation Scholarship,
Ed Westhaver will present it on the awards night. She will be studying Environmental
Science at SUNY.
-Sherri asked the Commission to come up with their ideas for the 5 Year CIP and
have them ready at the August meeting. She will sit down with Mike Ahern and Mark Cook,
over the summer, to initiate a master plan for fields and our priorities.
7. New Business:
-Sherri will be sitting down this summer with Mike Ahern and Mark Cook to develop a
Plymouth Street and Memorial Park Master Plan. It will give all the ideas groups have and
develop a planned vision for both parks.
-Summer Entertainment schedule is out.
-Sherri asked for volunteers for the annual duck race on June 28. Ed, Mitch and Linda were
available. Mike will have to let us know closer to the race. Mitch suggested we use the new
PA system we purchased with NPGF money at the race as the EMS PA system was difficult
to hear.
8. Next Commission Meetine: Tuesday, June 20, 2017 6:00pm, Town Hall.
9. Motion: By Linda McCabe to adjourn. y econded by Ed Westhaver.
Motion passes, 4-0.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:55pm.
