Arts fair—Nancy
The MMAS Arts fair was a huge success!
Nancy used our new tent, passed out our brochures, had the ring toss game, sold mural mugs,
and had an artist doing caricatures for $10.00. She also had the newly painted barrel from
the Adult Center on display for recruiting artists to paint a barrel. See below for details of
Painted Barrels Project.
Route 106 Embankment — Nancy
• Guerrini weeded the embankment and it looks great!
Existing/Ongoing Projects
Flower barrels - Pat & Nancy
• Pat, Nancy, and David (Nancy's husband) emptied all the barrels in preparation for the fall
MUMS.
Nancy and Mike Healey will be planting some of the mums on Friday, September 23`d. Pat,
Martha, Mike McCarthy, Jeff, and Erik will plant the remaining mums on Saturday morning.
Erik will arrive early and prepare the barrels by turning over the soil and digging a hole for
the location of the plant.
Pat has written a project plan for this project. Nancy and Pat will be going over the plan to
determine ways to improve the program.
Adopt a Spot- Martha
• No update.
Litter Busters — Jeff
• No update.
Painted Barrel Program — Pat
• Twelve people signed up at the MMAS Art Fair to paint a barrel. Since it is close to the time
when DPW starts putting away the barrels for the winter, Pat will notify the people that we
will start up the program again in the early spring. Some people expressed they do not have a
place to paint the barrel so we will be asking DPW to hold a painting session like we did the
first year this program was started. We will also allow people to bring a barrel home and
paint it.
• Pat needs to contact DPW and get an inventory of the number of barrels that are in good
shape and the ones that need to be replaced.
• The new painted barrel from the Adult Center is located at the North Common gazebo. Pat
took pictures and sent to the Heather Coogan. She was very happy with the location of the
barrel.
• We have two primed barrels ready to paint. The Adult Center has already requested another
barrel for November.
New Programs/update of existing urograms
Fall clean-up —Neil
Neil would like to start up a "Mansfield Autumn Littah Sweep" to take place over the
weekend on November 5`r' and 6a'. It would be a scaled down cleanup, with no t -shirts, no
banner, and no picnic. Neil will take care of the advertising. Sign up will be done online and
Precinct Captains will assign locations, trash bags, and recycle bags. Trash will be left on the
side of the road and DPW will pick it up on Monday morning. Recycle bags will need to be
brought home and placed in residents' recycle barrels since Xfinity will not be picking it up.
Everyone was in favor of the fall weekend cleanup.
Family Fun Night — Pat
• Family Fun Night was a huge success! It was a beautiful night and there were a record
number of people at the event. The signed "Flower Power" barrel is located in front of Town
Hall. The signing of the barrel and ring toss game was a big hit!
Inventory of unnecessary/outdated signs - Neil
Neil requested help in identifying outdated signs. Members were asked to start identifying
signs that need to be removed.
We need to plan a morning to drive around town looking for signs that need to be removed.
We Noticed — Nancy
Both Rockland Credit Union and Sherman Jackson were nominated. Sherman Jackson won
because it is located downtown and the owner does all of his own landscaping.
Xfinity Center — Mike Healey
• Mike has been doing lots of walking and noticed the area behind Xfinity is filled with litter
and the fences are in need of repair. Mike would like it cleaned up. Erik is going to look into
Xfmity's maintenance requirements.
