His career was in Property Management. He is especially interested in cleaning up the area around Stop & Shop and Route 140. He would like to cut down the trees going through the fence, but since this is town/state property we would need to get DPW or the State to do this. Treasurer's report 7:10 (Mike) $11,990.52 is in the account. $1,000 from Together We Can program (run by Jay Barrows). Perhaps we can put toward the Recycling Program at the schools. Mike reported that we are down from last year in terms of donations. Clean-up 7:15 WM, DPW —Nancy • Nancy will get trash bags from DPW and recycling bags from Xfmity Center. Mark has had the bags delivered to Neil's house in the past. • Nancy will also get precinct maps for the Precinct Captains (10 maps per precinct). • Orange Leaf, a new sponsor, will give half off a medium sized yogurt on Saturday if you wear your cleanup shirt. • Relay for Life flyers will also be distributed. Fundraising, PR — Neil Neil followed up with many companies that donated last year, but did not this year. Neil placed information in the Mansfield News, sent out an e -newsletter, and continues to update our Facebook page. Joe Kennedy will be participating in the Cleanup along with 25 other people. They will be given Route 106 from the Easton Line to Franklin Street. Neil will participate with this group and do the necessary coordination. Sign-ups, Community/school groups - Pat • Sign-ups continue to happen. The same community/school groups from last year have signed up. • Community Groups will continue to get the school areas (daisies, brownies, girl scouts) and the areas with a high level of litter (Lagasse Sweet, Smith & Nephew, Boy Scouts, Friends of Memorial Park). Tee shirts — Jeff • We are going with Esp. which gave an excellent price. Because the price was so good we will be ordering 450 T-shirts this year compared to 400 last year. • Pat will give Jeff the number of T-shirts to order by April 18". • Jeff will be ordering the T-shirts on April 18"i. He will need to know exactly who has donated and the amount so they can go on the back of the shirt. Mike will give Jeff a final list by April 18`h. Currently, Mansfield Bank is our Gold Sponsor with a $1,000 donation. • The front of the shirt will be the same hornet, year 2016, and #cleanYOURblock. Precinct captains, business volunteers — Erik Neil was going to meet with Erik and Pat after the meeting to review what they need to do. Erick will produce the Precinct Captains list and Pat will determine the community group cleanup sites. Flyers- school and town — Martha, Nancy Neil • Martha and Nancy distributed the flyers. Jordan/Jackson did not want to distribute the paper flyers and returned them. The school wants to place all information on their electronic system, but it looks like it wasn't placed on that system either. Since we already spent the money to produce the flyers, Neil was going to follow up with the schools. Picnic - Neil • Theresa is all set with the picnic. She reached out to all the previous volunteers and they all are returning. Grabbers & gloves - Nancy • We have 60 grabbers and each precinct will get 10 of them, numbered according to precinct (10-19 for precinct 1, 20-29 for precinct 2, etc.). Nancy will number and drop off at Pat's house who will distribute to the Precinct Captains, along with the other supplies. The Precinct Captains should keep track of the grabbers by writing down the number next to the person's name. • Nancy has 72 gloves from Toyota. Each precinct will get 12 gloves. Photos of participants • Brian will be taking pictures again this year, along with volunteer from Mansfield Bank. Committee Responsibilities (7:45) Everyone Pole Barrel - Nancy • Nancy will be ordering 6 more barrels from the grant. Adopt -a -Spot — Martha • Martha reported that Adopt -a -Spot is underway with all the people from last year retuming. • The Jordan/Jackson site needed to be moved because area is being rebuilt for drainage issues. Martha will find the Girl Scouts another area. • The spot around the Qualters sign will be re -designed and adopted. We will clean it up and plant new flowers, grasses, and shrubs. Dianne Breitenstein, a 6`s grade teacher, will oversee the maintenance of the site. • Martha is still pursuing the Farrell Memorial site at Qualters. • Martha will begin working on the Libertore site (in front of MMAS) in June/July. • Neil requested that Martha get before/after shots of the sites for our website. Grant — brochure, banner, and tent — Pat • Pat submitted the Non -Profit Gift Fund grant. She requested $3,452.00 for the following: 1. New Great American Cleanup of Mansfield Banner= $355.00. 2. Keep Mansfield Beautiful Tri -fold Brochure = $750.00 3. Customized 10 x 15 tent (with logo/website) and 6 foot tablecloth (with logo)_ $2,347.00 Painted barrels — Pat Pat delivered a primed barrel to Heather Coogan, who is the Director of Mansfield Day Habilitation, an adult special needs daytime facility. She was very appreciative and enthusiastic about having her residents paint it. We have 4 more barrels primed. Pat has one at home to use for Family Fun Night. We talked about what we want to do this year at Family Fun Night. Pat wants to do the similar thing we did last year, but this year will be "Flower power to beautify Mansfield". She wants Kristi Johnson to paint bright colored "hippy" flowers all over the barrel and have people sign the petals again. Other suggestions included having people actually share in painting the barrel, do hand prints, raffle one away, etc. These are all great ideas that we will discuss further at the next meeting. Brochure —Neil, Pat • Neil has Stonehill college interns working on the print for the brochure. • Pat has talked with Karen Reardon about designing. Karen gave a quote of $300 for designing the brochure. This quote was also used in the Non -Profit Gift Fund grant request. KMB banner — Nancy • Nancy got a quote of $355 from Bay State Envelope on producing a heavy duty banner that contains 5 grommets on the top and bottom, and contains wind cuts. This quote was also used in the Non -Profit Gift Fund grant request. Off ramps & Adopt a Highway —Neil, Jason This continues to be a major topic of discussion because these areas are so filled with litter. Neil is pursuing the Adopt -a -Highway program as a viable solution since companies will pay cleanup crews to do this work on a regular, scheduled basis. Fulton Pond Update - Erik, Martha, Dan There is state money available for improving public spaces (Chapter 90 grant). Erik has created a preliminary design for Fultons Pond! This has been on our wish list since the committee was formed! Erik is designing an environmentally friendly park area. This includes an embankment, flowering trees, shrubs, perennials, and a future site for a sign.
