This started a conversation about having an online, easy to update map on the website that includes Litter Buster sites, Adopt -a -Spot locations, and Painted Barrel locations. Erik was going to look into this online map. Litter Index Mike Committee & More Scheduled for March 19th at 9:00 Litter Jeff Need to notify Busters/SWAT schools (via school newsletters) of SWAT dates to encourage participation of students in need of service hours, like NHS, Scouts, etc. We voted on having 2 pre -arranged main Litter Busters events. One in October before the leaves fall and another in June before the summer. Jeff wants to publicize this event via website and the newspaper. He wants to take out a full page ad for recruitment and visibility. As part of the adoption piece of Litter Busters, Jeff wants to acknowledge work and also foster accountability. Jeff would like to see all the adopted spots on an online map on our website. Ideally, this map would be updated regularly and easy to maintain. Downtown Litter Nancy, Martha Will be purchasing Control more of the pole mounted barrels. Mark Cook likes them and they are definitely reducing the amount of litter downtown. Recycle in Schools Neil, Nancy Presentation on February 1 lth and 12th for 3rd graders at Jordan/Jackson. Adopt-a-Spot Martha Will be sending out an email in March to the current participants asking if they are still interested. A few participants (Beauty Queens and Girl Scouts maintaining the Fultons Pond Memorial Rocks) will not be asked to continue due to lack of maintaining the spots properly. From this point forward, new locations will not receive a sign until they have maintained the spot successfully for one year. We Noticed Nancy Flower Barrels Nancy, Pat Committee helps plant/remove flowers Family Fun Night Pat Pat is planning on having another barrel painted. Recommended having shifts so people can walk around and enjoy the festivities. Painted Barrels Pat, Nancy March/April would be the time to do this project again. Will be discussed at our next meeting. Pat and Nancy need to do an inventory of the barrels at the D.P.W. Potential Project Leader Project Assistants Notes Programs/Projects Anti -litter Program On hold Involves designing the sign, making the signs, receiving BOS approval, and guaranteeing proper police enforcement. Memorial Garden at Martha, Garden Spring project. Need Qualters Club, and Erik to check with the family. Want kids to be involved and responsible for maintenance. Want to start collaborating with Garden Club. Dan suggested a 6th grade science teacher to oversee this project. Even if it is not a Shane Ferrel Memorial, it could be a peace garden. This would be a nice program as part of a science project. It would ideally start small to guarantee it was successful, and then increase in size every year. Fultons Pond Nancy, Garden Club Want to start Parking Area collaborating with Garden Club. Sign at Fultons Pond Dan, Martha Might need to work with Conservation Committee on location. Dan reported if the sign is 50 feet away from the pond, we would not need to go to the Conservation Committee. We would need to send in paperwork, but it should be easily approved. We are thinking we could put the sign in the area to the left and it would be well beyond the needed 50 feet. The sign would cost $1500 - $3000. Trees on Route 140 Erik Jeff Erik to investigate Sponsor-a-Highway On hold 106 Sign Inventory Mike Litter Index To be done as part participants of the Litter Index.
