BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING - JUNE 11, 2016

Attendance: Nancy Breef-Pilz, Leonard Epstein, Marianne Mackie, Dana Hourigan, John

Secretary's report. Minutes of the May meeting were reviewed' V103 ffiffiiETTS
Treasurer's report. Nancy and Marianne will have finalized the treasury transition by the
September meeting.
Librarian's reports. The librarians' reports were reviewed and discussed.
OLD BUSINESS
Long range planning survey. Catherine reported on the responses received including the
Town's web site, Facebook, on-line, and a few on paper.
Staff. Cathleen Hellard will be out on medical leave for several weeks, the dates to be
determined.
NEW BUSINESS
FY 2017 Budget. Status of the budget was discussed including pay increases for the staff.
Staff name tags. Marianne raised the issue of having the staff wear name tags. Catherine
will discuss it at a staff meeting on June 14. Dana and Marianne are planning to attend.
Holiday hours. The board approved remaining open on Saturday, July 2 and closing on
Saturday, September 3.
Parking lot. Catherine and Gale Farrugia met with the Town Manager to discuss re -paving
of the parking lot. The library may have to close for approximately one week during the process.
The building is also scheduled to be painted. Catherine will ask whether the two projects can be
coordinated. Staff would be available to help move materials.
Staff evaluations. The board discussed the desirability of periodic staff evaluations and
reviewed the form used by the Ames Free Library. Minor modifications were made to the form and
Catherine will be working on a plan to implement the process.
Next meeting. September 17, 2016. The meeting was adjourned at 11:20 a.m.
