The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by Chairman Robert Krbntzni8W I'LISF. TTS
Members present:

1. Vote to approve December 16 IDC meeting minutes
MOTION to approve the minutes of October 15 (Martin/Wall) Kevin Moran
abstained. Motion passed.
2. Discussion on meeting with Board of Selectmen on 1-7-2016
Presentation to the board of selectman was well received. Concerns from the BOS
Chair that the IDC is out to spend money were addressed. It is time to take next step
to back up our presentation with actions. Eyes are on the IDC now to help the
community get what it wants from an economic development perspective.
3. Social Media and Marketing Campaign
Krista provided an update on the social media campaign work with students from
Mansfield High School.
4. Discussion on IDC survey and marketing program
Need to summarize biggest findings from Survey for three audiences:
1. Community- reach them through the press (want to keep up the momentum)
a. Nancy Wall had connected us to Donna Whitehead, Wicked Local.
b. Sun Chronicle
2. Commercial Realtors
a. CB Richard Ellis - Steve Clancy
b. Lynn Tocarzyk
c. Banker and Tradesman (newspaper)- (Matt checking on this)
3. Input for Brochure for Why Mansfield
Discussed and decided to release the full survey data without the free responses
on website.

• Will produce a one page summary
Students are working on a summary that makes it fun.
a. What is the most sought after type of restaurant?
b. What is the most sought after clothing store?
c. What is the most sought after entertainment spot?
What are the biggest findings? Large number of 1071 responses. Respondents tended
to be more educated, more female, and higher earning than the average.
REMINDER Each one of us will do an editorial from our point of view.
S. Discussion about Reaching Out to Realtors
• The easier you make it for people to buy, the more likely they are to buy. We need
to give the realtors the materials they need to market Mansfield.
• Industrial development must expand or we will need to make hard choices. We
need to find ways to raise revenues.
• Marie shared that their will be two open buildings in Cabot Business Park with the
Covidian changes.
• IDC's role is public relations - advocating for the town by supporting realtors and
their client businesses with information.
Member Questions and Comments
Downtown - Is Important Glue, can it have a task force to move this element of the
IDC's work forward faster? Ask Town Manager if we can have a subcommittee?
Krentzman asked Nancy Wall to be the lead on that project.
Future Meetings: IDC will meet every Third Tuesday.
February 16 Meeting Focus: Survey Result Summary
March 15th Meeting Focus: The Commercial and Industrial Parks
Shaun Burke and Steve Clancy (Marie will reach out to Steve Clancy)
Beth will summarize zoning changes, Strategic Plan, and Master Plan items
for the park, and Northeastern Students Cabot Park challenge.
April. 19 Fincom wants a joint meeting.
