Policy: No update NEW BUSINESS: SRO Evaluation (taken out of order): Zeff Gianetti and spoke regarding the current SRO program. There is no hard data on what has been done over the last year. It is more about building relationships with students and staff. Ron Sellon spoke on the following points: • Looking at referrals, calls over the past year to provide to school committee • Goals are to break barriers and build bridges; connect families with agencies and resources • Pilot program in 2016-17 to add an assistant SRO at peak activity times of year. • SRO will work over the summer to support CHAMPS, summer school, and plan for upcoming year. • Evaluation of program is complicated because there are no state standards on the job and it is somewhat difficult to tabulate data. Ron and Zeff will work toward an evaluation process. • The goals for next year: 1. Establish himself with teachers 2. Develop curriculum based activities for students 3. Devise a way to track data 4. Add an assistant SRO 5. Structure the job so that it is more education based and less law enforcement. School Committee suggestions: • SRO program has been extremely beneficial. Now the time to look how to improve upon our success. • Can SRO curriculum activities tie in with the health course curriculums? QMS Improvement Plan: Suzanne Ryan presented her 2 year improvement plan which is for the 2015 - 2017 period. She thanked the Department Chairs, Assistant Principals and School Council who all contributed to the plan. Suzanne focused on the major objectives which align with the district goals. She focused in on details of each Page 2 of 5 Approved 6-21-16 Mansfield School Committee Meeting Minutes for Monday, June 13, 2016 Town Hall, Room 3A&B objective as stated in the attached presentation. Kiera O'Neil suggested that we plan out the time cycle of the school improvement plans going forward. New MHS Graduation Requirements: Michael Connolly and Tina Karidoyanes presented the changes to credits which now need to be based of two semesters per year rather than three trimesters. There will be a slow conversion to the new plan as each grade which participated in trimesters, graduates from the school. The credit requirement listed for grade 9 will be the standard moving forward. Linda Fernando made a motion to approve the new MHS graduation requirements. This motion was seconded by Lynn Cavicchi Motion U.C. 5 — 0. Assistant Principal (MHS) and Preschool Coordinator (RG): Zeffro Gianetti presented the new job descriptions as we redefine the organization of the district. With the new associate principal at MHS the job descriptions of the assistant principals has been slightly modified. The new director position for the Roland Green has been setup as Kerri Sankey becomes principal of Robinson and Roland Green (with retirement of Joanne Jordan.) School Committee questions: Does Zeff envision this position staying at 2 days per week as stated? Yes, but will be revisited and adjustments will be made as needed. The two days was based on Joanne Jordan's current amount of time spent working with the Roland Green school. Is Zeff comfortable with the 2 days per week? 4 half days may be more appropriate to have constant coverage of an administrator at RG. Zeff noted that this is not a new practice as Joanne Jordan spends the majority of her time within the Robinson today. However, schedule is flexible. Conversation continued regarding the amount of time this job should entail. In the end it was determined to keep the 2 day per week description and monitor going forward. Jenn Walsh made a motion to approve the new MHS Assistant Principal Job description and the new Roland Green Coordinator description. This motion was seconded by Lynn Cavicchi. Motion U.C. 5 — 0.
