The Animal Welfare Committee meeting was called to order at 7:35 p.m. at Mansfield Airport.
Approve Minutes
Motion: To approve minutes from January 15, 2014. Passes.
ACO Report
David Aristide was arraigned in superior court today. Jeff will inquire about the outcome.
Resolution of the animal abuse case is not expected for several months. David's dogs, at least
the pups, have shown a pack mentality and lack of socialization. The dogs also show signs of
boredorn and stress. Mini continues to show signs of neurological problems. Jeff
recommends keeping a Kuranda bed in Mini's kennel to ease her neck and back problems. If
the dogs become town property, Prima might be able to go to a Doberman rescue. Jeff
observed that she is smart and food oriented, which would help with training.
Maintenance
Two or three of the kennels require new frames before the flaps can be installed. Since work on
the kennel doors won't occur before spring, Jeff said there is no need to order the frames yet.
Miscellaneous
Sharon would like to schedule election of AWC officers for the March meeting.

Veterinary
+ Jeff will schedule Saffron's vaccinations for Friday or Monday.
• Erika suggested that Roxie's sudden aggressive behavior is likely to be the result of a
brain tumor. She recommended the cat be PTS.
• Foxboro dog Buster is much better. His eyes and feet are clearing up, although he is still
on steroids and antibiotics for his skin infection, and wearing a cone to prevent
scratching. The vet suspects skin cancer. Erika commented that dogs can live for quite a
while with skin cancer.
