Gurnon; Parks & Recreation Director r Mary Sellner; Assistant to the Director 1. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 PM. 2. Minutes of the Recreation Commission Meeting from November 23, 2015. Motion: By Ed Westhaver to approve the Recreation Commission Meeting Minutes from November 23, 2015 as written. Seconded by Mike Weber. Motion passes, 4-0. 3. Questions & Comments: Congratulations to Ed Westhaver and Mike Weber for their re -appointment to the Recreation Commission for another term. 4. Facility Requests: -2016 Field Reservation forms were emailed out. All fees fi•om 2015 have been paid in full. Mansfield Girls Softball turned in their application for the use of the Memorial Park Softball Field from April 1 -July 31, M -F 5-1Opm and Sat/Sun. 8am-IOpm. Motion: By Ed Westhaver to approve Mansfield Girls Softball application for field use. Seconded by Linda McCabe. Motion passes, 4-0. -Mansfield High School turned in their application for the use of the Memorial Park and Plymouth tennis courts and Hutchason from March 9 -June 14, M -F 2:30-6pm, Motion: By Mike Weber to approve MHS application for field use. Seconded by Linda McCabe. Motion passes, 4-0. -Mansfield Youth Soccer turned in their application for Plymouth Street soccer fields from March 19 -June 24, M -F 330 -dusk, Saturday lam -dusk, Sunday 12pm-dusk; July 11 -August 18, M -F (front grass field/turf), 8am-5pm for summer camp. Sherri mentioned that the request to be able to retain 12-2pm on Sundays, to be able to grant some requests to bring in money to the Recreation Department, wasn't mentioned in the request, but felt it would be honored again. Motion: By Linda McCabe to approve MYS application for field use with the modification of 12-2pm on Sundays being retained by the Recreation Department for additional revenue. Seconded by Ed Westhaver. Motion passes, 4-0. 5. Old Business: -There will be upcoming Open Space and Recreation Plan workshops being scheduled and Recreation members are requested to attend. -Aidan Corrigan's Eagle Scout soccer kick back wall project was completed and Sherri shared F pictures that Aidan sent of the wall. Sherri and Mary went out to see the kick back wall and felt it was a great addition to Plymouth Street Fields. 6. New Business: -Election of a 2016 Chairman and Clerk was tabled until more members can be present. - Kripalu Yoga and karate have started their winter session -Winter basketball is full, and volleyball is showing increasing number and interest. -Reduced Providence Bruins tickets are being offered for the weekend of Jan. 15. -Winter Youth and Adult tennis lessons are being offered. It is a new program added and being held at the Brown Billone Club. There is a consistent enrollment and interest in the lessons. They will be held starting Feb. 1. Parks and Recreation will receive 10% of the enrollment fees. -We are offering, for the 2"d year, the 2016 MassParks pass. It gives free parking to any Mass State Parks. -Sherri mentioned that we are looking into possibly offering adult classes at the high school. -Sherri and Mary went to tour the MPlex and to possibly rent for some of our programs as the Mansfield High School is making it difficult to run programs out of due to other school groups needing the space. There have been consistent switching around of times and other gyms for the programs causing frustration from players. We are waiting for fees and more information from the owner at MPlex that he agreed to draw up after our meeting with him on Jan. 7, 2016. 7. Next Commission Meeting: Monday, February 22, 2016 6:00 PM. To be held at the Town Hall. 8. Motion: By Mike Weber to adjourn. Seconded by Ed Westhaver. Motion passes, 4-0.
