Draft plan to review now and should have some specifications in the next couple weeks and bid
out the roof work.
MPS Updates — Mike Ahern
Bleacher and sliding curtain project was awarded. In the submittal process now with architect.
Once approved, bleachers will be taken out and that work will be this summer, re -do the floors
and re -install around Thanksgiving.
JJ School is having trouble getting bids from contractors, too small a job for this economy.
Probably going to postpone the project until there is more interest.
Roland Green Asbestos, not enough money in budget to do it. Consultant came in to look at the
whole thing, going to give us a price and what the estimated costs would be for a contractor.
Status on roof hatches: In pre -construction meeting next week and will be moving forward with
Barbato Construction,
Public Safety Facility - Status/Update - Mike Ahern/Chris Paquin
Discussions on method of delivery which is to try to keep it in house and have someone that has

that the project needs an Owner's Project Manager (OPM). Recommendation from town council
works with IG on many issues. Bill Ross believes the town has qualified staff to help with the
project. Chris Paquin feels it is an overwhelming task, it's a large project to write an RFQ and
an RFP and make sure everything is the way it's supposed to be. Mike Ahern has all the
certifications needed. Bill's plan is to free Mike up to spend the time needed on the project and
hire someone to fill in for him during the project. The goal is still to have a purchasing agent.
Several employees have shown interest in being involved in the project. Mike would be the
owner's representative. Doug Annino who is a selectman but also a licensed architect has stated
whether he remains on the board when his term is up next spring would still like to be involved.
Roles need to be defined. Bill Ross does not want the MBC to feel left out of this. He will keep
board informed. MBC wants to be involved to some degree. Town has full liability insurance
that covers all employees. General discussion about costs for town doing the job. General
discussion about hiring clerk of the works. Money portion: More general discussion about
costs. Walter Wilk wants everyone to know that having the town employees utilized for the
project is not in addition to the $35 million that was budgeted, it is included. Regional Dispatch
Center could be built at the same time as Public Safety Building in old Police Station.
General discussion of qualifications of staff.
Bob Barry would like something put together to review from start of constructionthrough design
firm. Bryan Young is wondering the cost of town running the project. Weight these options
against pulling someone else on full-time.
Bill suggests adding representative to the committee for the project from the police, fire and
highway departments.
Discussion regarding additional meeting times for project before vote,
Architects: Need someone to do whole project not individual. We can do an RFQ before
deciding on the OPM, etc. Mike will work on creating RFQ. Bryan and Chris have volunteered
to help in a workshop.
Bryan: Who is going to put together a real plan for the town to be OPM? It needs to be a
legitimate plan. Bill will draft an email to Board discussing this.
General discussion about voting day, times, etc.
DPW Facility — As discussed above
Motion To adjourn at 7:24pm (Paquin/Young) all in favor; unanimous
Copies of approved invoices can be found in the MBC meeting room file cabinet.
Respectfully submitted,
Chris Paquin
