Letters to Mrs. Anjana Patel, Four Corners Citgo and Mr. Wissam Samrout, Mansfield Gas
& Service, Inc.
Letter from Nancy Graf, Market Manager for the Mansfield Farmers' Market: Ms. Graf
asked that the Board consider a variance from the Retail Food Permit and Residential
Kitchen Permit fees for vendors participating in the Mansfield Farmer's Market. She
explained the market was designed to support local farmers, encourage small businesses,
provide fresh, healthy foods to Mansfield residents and surrounding communities and be a
community gathering place. She said the market is a limited time event, as opposed to
retail stores that operate year round and is opened one day a week with limited hours; the
Market is opened for 13 weeks only from 2 -6 pm, starting mid -July through mid - October.
Ms. Graf said in its present location on North Main Street there is room for only 6 vendors
and, because the parking lot is shared with a bank, the site can be dangerous because of
traffic entering and exiting the parking lot. The move to Mansfield Crossing Mail will provide
a safer location and allow for more vendors. She said farmers are exempt from the permit
fees and she is asking for a variance for the Retail Food Permit and Residential Kitchen
Permits, from $100.00 to $50.00. The current fees are difficult for the vendors to
accommodate, particularly because the vendors have to pay the money up front before any
sales of their products take place. She said the Market vendors do not make a lot of
money, some just breaking even. The fee charged to the vendors goes for signs, business
cards, etc. Because the Farmer's Market is opened for a quarter of the year, Mr. Leite
suggested the fee for the permits be reduced to $25.00.
Mr. Healey made the motion to reduce the fee to $25.00 per permit. Ms. Wall seconded the
motion. Motion passed 3 -0 -0.

Mr. Leite suggested a workshop for May. Ms. Memory said the Board should review the

Healey suggested the Board review the Regulations every five years.
