Ms. Judith F. Scott

Town of Mansfield
Mansfield, Massachusetts
Dear Ms. Scott:
I regret that I must enclose the amendment to general by -laws
adopted under article 22 of the warrant for the Mansfield Annual
Town Meeting that convened April 2, 1984, with the disapproval
of the Attorney General endorsed thereon.
The definition of vending trucks in article 22 is consistent
with the definition of a hawker and peddler under General Laws,
Chapter 101, Section 13. However, the provision for a local
annual license fee of fifty dollars is inconsistent with the
state licensing provision contained in Chapter 101, Section 22.
A local license may be issued under Chapter 101, Section 17,
but any person licensed under Section 22 for a particular town
need not be licensed under Section 17.
Very truly yours,
Henr F. O'Connell
