12. Around the Table
Planner McClanahan spoke to the Planning Board regarding lack of support at Town
Meeting by the Board.
Planning Director LaCasse spoke to the Planning Board regarding the grant ap-
plication for a regional study on water supply protection for the towns of
Plainville, North Attleboro, Mansfield and the City of Attleboro, which the
Planning Board's of all the towns supported - with the exception of the Town of
North Attleboro. This grant was in the amount of $50,000, with no local cash
share - to be used only for sponsoring a study. Because North Attleboro did not
support the grant application, this grant has been lost until next year. Plan-
ning Director LaCasse asked the State if this grant could be filed for without
North Attleboro and was told it cannot be done.
Motion: To send a letter to the Town of North Attleboro Planning Board, copy
the North Attleboro Board of Selectmen, stating that they have missed
their chance for the grant for a regional study on water supply
protection and the Mansfield Planning Board hopes that when the ap-
plication comes up again that they will be supportive of the sur-
rounding communities.
(Flynn - Caponigro) All in favor. PASSES.
Planning Director LaCasse stated there are two companies interested in Mansfield
as a location for a trash -to- energy plant. He asked for the support of the
Planning Board to look at the possibility of a regional solution, a public
trash -to- energy facility. This would not necessarily have to be located in
Mansfield.
13. Public Discussion
Marilyn Ouellette, 6 Oakland Street, Mansfield. The Solid Waste Committee
recently completed a report, which has been presented to the Board of Selectmen
and copies are available for any members wishing them.
7
Mrs. Ouellette spoke to the Planning Board 'about the two companies which have
approached the Town of Mansfield for a trash -to- energy facility.
Mrs. Ouellette also asked the Planning Board if any joint meetings with Conser-
vation and the Board of Health (as proposed by the Planning Board) had been
scheduled yet. The Board informed Mrs. Ouellette that Conservation and the
Board of Health would be notified when these meetings are scheduled.
