MANSFIELD HIGH SCHOOL Drinking Fountains at Gy —Sue Michael Brown reported conversation with Phil Ricci, (JTC) noting the existing chillers in three drinking fountains located in the gym do not work properly. Chillers need to be removed by JTC to accommodate lower height of new handicap fountains being installed. Per JTC re- piping chillers would be an additional cost to the Town. MBC asked Walter Parker to verify working condition of chillers. If the existing chillers are found to be in working order, MBC will ask JTC to submit a change order proposal to re -pipe fountains. If chillers are not working properly at this time, Committee members do not support additional cost to re -pipe units. Gym Lockers — Sue Michael Brown expressed concern regarding Walter Parker redirecting Contractor about installation of gym lockers. Ms. Brown reiterated any changes in scope of work need to be coordinated through WFDG. MBC asked Walter Parker to copy MBC locker room plans, mark School Dept. changes, and forward marked upset of plans to )AFDG. WFDG will coordinate necessary work with JTC. Sue Michael Brown commented that WFDG was unaware of some recent changes planned by School Dept. Estimated timeframe for WFDG to complete documents is one month. Comment was made that work should start in March to enable Town to award contract by May, 2001. School Dept. to review draft design. Scope of Work: Line Lynch expressed frustration with high cost anticipated for bid documents. Sue Michael Brown noted that if the scope can be reduced by the School Dept., the cost of architect fees could be lower. Walter Parker needs to mark up a copy of the existing drawings identifying what work School Dept. plans to do in- house. Ken Gay questioned whether the limited manpower in -house would be sufficient to perform the substantial amount of work required. David Young commented that Masonry Contractor must be bid due to cited sub - bidder requirements. • SBAB: - MBC asked that Line Lynch obtain written confirmation from SBAB regarding approval to hire an alternative architectural firm (other then Keyes Assoc.) to oversee the MHS Track and Fields Project. No written response received to date. MRS TRACK & FIELDS PROJECT • Budget — Lincoln Lynch provided further breakdown of Locker room renovations. • Architectural Services — Line Lynch proposed hiring a masonry subcontractor (DCPO Certified) as the General Contractor to oversee limited trades needed for the project. MBC strongly opposed this suggestion due to critical coordination issues involving verification of drawings, response to RFPs, etc. OTHER Technology Proposal — Request made by Line Lynch for release of funds to support expanded technology programs at QMS and MHS.
