William Moore — Absent
Meeting commenced at 8:00 PM.
MANSFIELD HIGH SCHOOL
Pumping Station — MBC Secretary confirmed with Buildings & Grounds Office that JRW was
on site during school vacation April 160' and April 17, 2002 to finish remaining electrical work at
the pumping station. MBC Secretary verified with Electrical Inspector David Connelly (on
4/22/02) that the work performed by JRW was complete and satisfactorily passed his inspection.
Per conversation with Michael Callahan earlier that day, JTC had requested final sign -off from
Building Dept. Local Inspector noted that the School Dept. needed to replace a vent on the
motor at the Pumping Station. Inspector Connelly stated that replacement of this vent was not
related to JRW's contract work and would not hold up the final sign off for electrical.
GENERATOR REPLACEMENT PROJECT
Shop Drawings — MBC Office received shop drawings from Freedom Electrical on Tuesday,
April 16, 2002 for the generator, transfer switch and automatic panel. Shop drawings were sent
to TCI for review and approval (4/17/02). MBC made follow up calls to TCI (4/22/02 &
4/23/02) to confirm documents were received and to verify status of approval. Moe Goyal
advised earlier today (4/23/02) that the Generator Shop Drawings looked fine and would be
delivered to the MBC on Thursday, April 24, 2002.
Generator Design Fe CI - TCI phoned the MBC Office earlier this week and questioned why
invoices relating to the generator design fee had not been processed. (To date TCI has submitted
(4) invoices totaling $4,522.00.) MBC's position is that the original design provided by TCI for
the High School Project, was insufficient to handle the added electrical load required for the new
additions. MBC Chairman advised Moe Goyal (2/7/02) that if they could show that proper load
calculations were taken, the Town would pay engineering costs related to installing the new
generator. If not, TCI would own the cost to correct this issue since it should have been done as
part of the overall school design. David Young raised discussion about paying TCI a fee to
cover monitoring of the construction project. No decision was made.
MRS TRACK & FIELD UPDATE
General Update — MBC Secretary obtained a Project update from Lincoln Lynch, School
Business Manager (4/22/02). Cape Cod Track is scheduled to begin installation of the track top-
coat on Tuesday, May 28, 2002. Track & Field area will be closed for public use at that time.
Installation is estimated to take about two weeks.
QUALTERS MIDDLE SCHOOL
Unit Ventilators — Unit ventilators were scheduled to be start-up tested during April school
vacation (4/15/02 — 4/19/02). School Dept. needs to confirm testing was performed and if so,
whether units are working properly.
Final Occupancy Permit — Upon inspection, the Local Building Inspector directed the School
Dept. to install (1) handicap workstation in Home Economics to meet ADA requirements. Final
Occupancy Permit at QMS cannot be obtained until this work is complete. Walter Parker
advised the MBC that Mr. Moretti, School Superintendent was delaying doing this work due to
possible programming changes in Home Economics. MBC Chairman asked Mr. Parker to have
Mr. Moretti forward a letter to MBC confirming the School Department's intentions on this
issue.
