JORDAN JACKSON ROOF
Site Meetings - Weekly site meetings were planned to monitor progress of roof repairs.
Next Site Meeting to be held this Thursday, August 15, 2002. The Contractor was advised by
Gale Associates earlier that week that there was no assurance the School Dept. would allow
Atlas Roofing to work while school is in session. Superintendent of Schools, Principal and other
staff members plan to attend this meeting to review /comment on Atlas', plan of action. (i.e. safety
plan, sequence of work, expected completion dates etc.)
Site Inspection — Gale Associates inspected roof surface preparation earlier that day, prior to
application of paint primer.
Ventilation In response to a previous issue raised by the School Dept. regarding ventilation
during painting, a Gale's Field Report (dated 8/13/02) noted Ed Stewart had observed interior
conditions during spray application of paint primer and that no paint odor appeared to be present.
In addition, the school maintenance staff did not report any interior odor of paint when asked by
Gale.
ROBINSON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Project Close -out Town Accountant was gathering audit information that week and asked
MBC to verify final status of the school renovation project. Based on a previous suggestion by
David Young MBC issued a letter to the file identifying the project was closed. Due to an
unpaid energy credit due from J.T. Callahan & Sons to the Town of Mansfield, a final
Application for Payment to J.T. Callahan was never processed. (Amount owed to J.T. Callahan
equals zero.)
QUALTERS MIDDLE SCHOOL
Window Claim — Gale Associates submitted a Window Investigation Report (dated July 29,
2002) in response to a previous request by MBC to determine a cost to correct 272 inoperable
windows installed during recent renovations. Committee members expressed concern that the
report states many of Gale's "opinions" on issues relating to improper window installation.
MBC will ask Town Counsel to review wording. Members unanimously agreed that Option #5
referencing credit to Town for materials was unacceptable and should be deleted.
Ramp Lighting — David Young opened discussion regarding insufficient lighting at front ramp
entrance creating a possible safety issue. MBC discussed sending a letter to School Dept.
recommending School Dept. obtain a cost estimate to install or possibly ask Gale to design
additional lighting.
Handicap Station/Home Economics — Installation of one handicap unit was required to meet
ADA Code requirements. Per Bldg & Grounds Office, the unit was delivered last week. School
Dept. needs to install.
JORDAN JACKSON ELEMENTARY
Contract Agreement/Gale Associates — Concern was raised by Ed Stewart earlier this week, that
Construction Administration was not included as part of original contract Settlement Agreement.

project schedule to date.
