JORDAN JACKSON ELEMENTARY Roof Update - Jeff Bergeson, Gale Assoc. advised the MBC earlier that day that with the exception of punch list items, the roof repair work was complete. Depending upon weather conditions the Contractor may not be able to correct this issue until Spring, 2003. Punch List — Jeff Bergeson (Gale Associates) generated and reviewed the punch list with Atlas Roofing on Tuesday, October 8, 2002. David Young requested a copy of punch list be forwarded to the MBC. MBC Office asked Gale Assoc. to verify completed punch list work and submit a written evaluation to the MBC. 'MBC plans to schedule a meeting with Gale Associates in two weeks (October 29, 2002) to discuss the roof status. Use of Remaining J/J Funds — Mansfield School Committee previously submitted a warrant article request to transfer of funds from the Jordan Jackson Account to the NMS Track/Field Account to be used for installation of an irrigation system at the East Street Field. MBC noted that if funds were to be transferred, no funds would remain to install snow guards as previously discussed. MBC Chairman had requested direction from the School Superintendent as to whether or not the School Committee was still interested in installation of roof snow guards. Lincoln Lynch, School Business Manager advised the MBC, that due to the potential safety hazard involved, the School Committee voted that evening (10/15/02) to withdraw the transfer request warrant article and pursue installation of snow guards at Jordan Jackson with the remaining project funds. Roof Snow Guard Installation - MBC received a preliminary cost estimate from Atlas Roofing in the amount of $103,000 to furnish and install 2nd row of snow guards 10' up from existing bottom row and replace missing snow guards on bottom row. Members compared this amount to the original contract amount ($34,900.00) with A &M Roofing to furnish/install snow guards and unanimously agreed that the quote from Atlas was high. The projected cost to furnish and install snow guards is-over $25,000 therefore procurement of snow guards would require sealed bids. MBC needs to request a written scope of work from Gale Associates to use for bidding purposes. Lincoln Lynch noted he was pursuing price proposals from a few companies.
