Meeting Minutes of October 29, 2002

McCarter, Secretary.
MBC Business Meeting was cancelled. Committee members attended Fall Town
Meeting held that evening at Qualters Middle School (Fall Town Meeting was
postponed previously from October 22, 2002),
Warrant Articles that could impact MBC Proiects included the following:
Article No. 12 - Sponsored by Board of Selectman
• Request to appropriate $170,000 to develop a Comprehensive Wastewater
Management Plan. 'Motion Passed.
Article No. 13 - Sponsored by Mansfield School Committee
Request for appropriation of funds from the Town of Mansfield in the amount of
$113,000.00 to install bleacher seating as part of the Mansfield High School
Track & Field Project. Motion Passed.
o School Committee submitted an original request for this item in the amount of $125,000.
An amendment to the article was distributed prior to the meeting whereby the School
Dept. had requested a reduced amount of $113,000. It was noted that a $10,000.00
donation from the School Committee (i.e. Bleacher Fundraising Committee) was included
In the total appropriation amount and would be used to complete the Bleacher Project.
o School Superintendent announced per written correspondence from SBAB (dated
October21, 2002), all monies appropriated to install bleachers at MHS would be
reimbursable at a rate of 67% through SBAB. Actual cost to the Town of Mansfield to
Install bleacher seating would be $27,290.00 (24 % of the total additional cost).
o Fundraising Contributions — One resident questioned the amount of funds available as a
result of past fundraising efforts. School Superintendent acknowledged two fundraising
activities were held; solicitation letter campaign to business owners and a TPC Golf
Tournament. At that time, donations received were being held in a separate revolving
account.
• Request for donations from Private Business - Mansfield Tweeter Center donated
$10,000. No other contributions received to date.
• TPC Golf Fundraiser— John Moretti reported the Independent Bleacher Fundraising
Committee had raised $35,000. at the event held September, 2002 to be applied
used as "contingency" for the bleacher project for unforeseen costs over and above

the budgeted amount.
Article No. 14 - Sponsored by School Committee
Regarding School Dept. request to transfer of funds from the Jordan Jackson
School Account in the amount of $70, 000 to MHS Track & Field Construction
( Account (to install irrigation system at East Street Field). Withdrawn.
